Re: Beam me up Living Room

[ Edited ]

That LR is the worst. The furniture looks like it's make from box crates.   A first apartment furnished with cast offs?

That sofa looks like a Fulton sans the mattress.

It's not exactly screaming "come in, sit down and make yourself comfortable".

That room reminds me of my DD home.  A few years ago, my DD & SIL built a loft house.  Living room has wooden beams.  The rest of the house has marble looking beams.

Furniture looks straight out of the Ikea catalog.

My GS told me that "GreatMa" (my mother) asked his "MaMa" (DD), "now that "the boy" (GGS) will be going off to college soon, you guys (DD & SIL) going to get "grown folks" furniture?837514213.gif

Not my style or taste at all. It looks way too bare, and blah.

It must be the unrelieved "squareness" of the furniture.  The room itself could be great, with all that space, light and beams.  In the right hands, could be sort of Belgian farmhouse, or vaguely industrial, lots of interesting directions...

Kinda reminds me of the old "Friends" apartment.

Remember the episode when Monica/Rachel was babysitting Ben?

They were playing 'airplane' & Ben hit his head on those beams?

"Bang, Monica!"  Yes, I'm a Friends-Addict. Smiley Happy

Ugh!  That's a room designed to get any company heading home quickly🙂

i like the contrast of the rustic beams against the stark white walls and open space. if the furniture was different, the mix would look great.
