Bath & Body Works candles

[ Edited ]

A few years ago I stocked up on all my fav holiday scents.

I took out a new one today - my house smells just like a fresh cut tree & the candle isn't even lit! Just took the lid off!!!

Tonight, I pulled out a "used" one from last year & put on my candle warmer -- scent still there!!! No soot and safe!  I can only use it for a hour because the scent becomes overpowering.  I feel like I'm walking thru a fresh Christmas tree farm!

I love these candles I should have gone today to the store for the sale BUT the thoughts of the crowded mall stopped me! I'm sure they'll have another big sale before the holiday.

@lavendar It's a little device that you plug in and place the candle on top of it. Instead of lighting the candle. Kind of like a wax melter.

I've used them in the past to keep my coffee warm....lol

Re: Bath & Body Works candles

I buy the candles in bulk when they are on the once a year sale, like the one they had yesterday and use coupons.  Yesterday, I paid about $6.60 per candle with the discounts...about a dollar more than last year.

With the candles I just purchased, I have about 36 candles on a closet shelf that have not been burned and about five or so, that are partically used. A few are different brands.

I noticed that the scent always stays strong and never fades while the candles. are being stored.  Some of the candles from last year were sold without a lid with only a paper protector laying on the wax.  I like the lidded candles better, and save the lids from spent candles to cover the ones that came without.

I still have some Slatkin candles from BBW... they must be really old.

Years ago, Yankee Candle used to sell large blocks of their scented wax to the public in selected scents.  I bought about 30-40 lbs of Home Sweet Home.  I use a hammer and chisel to break off chunks and melt the wax down to fill old candle jars.  I can say that that old wax is very, very strong with much more oil than any candles sold today by anyone.  When I melt the wax down in an old coffee pot to pour in containers, my house smells of Home Sweet Home for about a week.

i have a big wax block of  a vanilla scent from Yankee Candle. That one is lightly scented.

I also have two blocks of scented wax and one block of unscented wax from the Williamsburg, VA candle company.

i love candles and love making candles too.

Re: Bath & Body Works candles

Although these candles return every year under the same scents, their recipes are sometimes slightly different.  My favorite BBW holiday candle is "Evergreen," and some years it has smelled a little off and a little sour.  This year it is absolutely beautiful and perfect.  Also, it comes in a metallic silver jar with a white marble lid, so the presentation is beautiful, too.  I currently have 8 of these candles.  I will probably try to scoop up as many as possible during the semi annual sale on the day after Christmas just to store them for future use.  Once you get a good batch with a good "recipe" and a good presentation, it's a smart idea to stock up and store them.

@TenderMercies   I agree with you.  I purchased an Evergreen candle yesterday and it smells wonderful and I love the presentation jar and lid too.

i purchased a Balsam last year and it had hardly any throw at all.  In previous years, that scent was extremely strong.

I agree about White Barn changing some of the scents a little bit from year to year....A while back I swear Evergreen was changed and smelled just like men's cologne....I went to the store this past Saturday to take advantage of the BBW sale and this year's Evergreen smelled great.....this is the jar I chose....

I also got some scents that I could use not just for Christmas but throughout the winter season too---Frosted Cranberry, Cinnamon Caramel Swirl, Vanilla Bean Noel.............

Re: Bath & Body Works candles

Has anyone else been taking advantage of their semi annual sale?  I've been stocking up on post-Christmas scented candles for winter and early spring.  Today I purchased a really great one called "No Place Like Home" that has a vanilla and light musk scent.  It's very soothing and suitable for winter.

Re: Bath & Body Works candles

Ive been trying to cut back on candle purchases. But I do love the ones by Big Lots. They seem to have the most bang for the buck.
