Around-the-home tips & tricks

[ Edited ]

Just saw these in an online article...

TIA for any others y'all suggest.  Woman Happy

*store a complete set of bedding inside the pillowcase; it's easy and leaves more room

*clean radiators with a fabric softener sheet; when the heat comes on, the home will smell nice

*add some baking soda or lemon when you wash your hands after cooking with onions or garlic; it will remove the smell

*freshen rugs or carpets with baby wipes; it won't affect the quality

"clean radiators"

I don't think I've seen a radiator in a home since 1953.  My first memory of my birth home was looking at a radiator steaming & making noises.

I have seen them in a few very old apts in NY & Philly.

I had radiators in my only house in the mid to late 90's, @Mz iMac.

The house was an old saltbox colonial and I had oil heat.  ;-)

Interesting first memory, LOL.

Those apartments must have great "bones".

Thanks, @SilleeMee - good catch!

Just changed it from the adorable Golden with a crown of flowers.

Think I'll alternate between these two cuties for a while...:

Love the pillowcase tip, too. Woman Happy

@feline groovy

I think I was about 2 or 3 yrs old.  My father, wearing a white tee was sitting on a couch w/a beer bottle.  I "think" I was sitting on the floor or sitting in a wooden play pen.  I kept staring at that silver radiator steaming & making noises.

Aww...

I know - in our earliest memories, we kind of have an idea of where our perspective or view was from.

Those hissing and other radiator noises can be pretty comforting sometimes.

Pretty entracing and hypnotic, too, to a wee one. 8)

Makes me miss 'em a bit...

Re: Around-the-home tips & tricks

When we lived up north and the house was closed up all winter I used to put a used dryer sheet in side the heater vent cover - it would freshen the air nicely as the heat blew through. Unused ones were too strong but used ones were just right.

I also place a unused dryer sheet in our blankets and linen cupboard here at camp when we close things up for the winter - when we get here in the spring everything smells fresh & clean.

I put dryer sheets under the seat of my car.

Great hack, @ChiliPepper.

That must come in extra helpful after you've been transporting take-out.  8)

Lovely avatar, BTW.
