Aretha Franklin Mansion Sold

For $300,000.  5 bedrooms, 6 baths, 3 fireplaces.  5,600 sq. ft., next to the golf course, in Detroit.  Sounds like a steal..........

Somebody did a horrid job on the hedge.  Maybe the place is outdated and in bad condition.  I've heard of houses selling for as little as $1. In Detroit, hoping someone will either tear them down or rehab them.

She may not have lived in that house.  She has another house in Bloomfield that is listed for $800,000.

This house looks like it needs a new roof.

Over 5,000 sq. ft. for $300,000 is dirt cheap.  It may need work inside.  It is a beautiful house.

What a gorgeous home! Detroit was once a thriving community. Imagine this was in one of the better parts of town.

Hope the new owners bring this beauty back to it's glory to  begin new memories of their own with their family.

In Detroit $300,000 is a lot of money for housing. Their entire economy is shattered.

Money screams; wealth whispers.

Re: Aretha Franklin Mansion Sold

Having previously grown up in a suburb of Detroit, there are a few areas that consist of extremely impressive homes from earlier times that are now "affordable".  (Well known owners and builders.)

Had a friend that bought one, and once took a Home/Garden tour through

Indian Village, which was impressive.

I understood Ms. Franklin's primary residence was located in Bloomfield Hills, an affluent suburban community.

I'm currently living in a 'steal' I bought three years ago, and after all the expensive refurbishing, I will  never steal a house again.

I agree with Katchina, they need to replace the shrubs for starters.

Maybe someone will turn into an Aretha museum.

Re: Aretha Franklin Mansion Sold

I'm suprised that the home in Bloomfield Hills is only going for $800,000.00.  It must need a lot of work.  Little bungolows in Royal Oak, Berkley, Ferndale are going for over $200,000.00.
