Ours was worse two years ago and each year lessening. I remember walking into my lving room and actually having to take 150 off of my front curtains. (I counted). Then I got agressive and went looking for something to kill them. Nothing was on the market. The following year, less. And this year I found only 4 wandering or flying around. I swatted them and so far nothing. Perhaps they have moved on. Or perhaps someone has been working on eliminating them in our area. Not sure.
I live in Western Maryland if that helps.

So far not as bad as last year and not even close to two years ago. I'm with you, OP, that awful buzzing!
I do not vacuum them. Ugh, I can't imagine the odor buildup in the vacuum. They're pretty easy to sneak up on and catch. We flush them and are careful not mush them on the way.

I have not had any this year yet. Last year we received a letter, I can't remember if it was from the town or state. It was a survey to see if we were still getting them and to let them know how many. We only had a couple over the season so did not respond. A few years ago we wre see stickbugs almost daily. This past year I have had a centipede problem.

Eeek! I haven't seen (or smelled) one of those since I was a kid in the fifties (my mom showed it to me). Staciesmom.......where do you live in NE Ohio? I've lived in Mentor for the last 24 years (20 miles east of Cleveland), and I've never heard of them being around here. Maybe our last two very harsh winters have been too much for them (one of the few perks of living in the snowbelt)!

We've had annual two-step treatment for stink bugs for the last three years. I used to note on my desk schedule the # flushed each day---sometimes it was in the 20's.
Last year we got a new neighbor who had a long line of very tall and thin evergreen trees taken out along the property line by our house. No more stink bugs.......Or so few, you could count them on one hand for the entire winter !
Saved us a couple hundred dollars!

So far I've only seen one on my screened in porch. Last year I probably saw 15 maybe 4 inside...most of them on the screened porch.
I catch them in kleenex without squishing it trying to keep it from stinking more. I read that if they do their stink thing it attracts more of them, so I try to carefully flush them.
My sister lives here in the same town and she always has them in larger quantities ?
I have read and seen pics of places of them taking over peoples homes...oh geesh I have a fear of that happening !!
