Re: Anyone used Lowe’s for a home project?

Rather go to Lowes than Home Depot, yes, new sink, faucets garbage disposal good but also have plummer for other projects, a/c unit go to our guys for that. My daughter's co worker's husband is retired architect and now works lowes part time he is bored at retirement & also my Lowes this guy we always talk to about things is a retired contractor. He gave us names of places to go for our projects outside of lowes for bigger projects. You will be suprised how much these retired guys that just work for Lowes part time, they only make min. wage but want to not be total retired.

Keep in mind that Lowes and Home Depot sub-contract that type of work.  They most likely have several sub-contractors and its a ****** shoot if you get a good one or not.

@CelticCrafter, how often do you have to clean the filters in your Mitsubishi system?

Re: Anyone used Lowe’s for a home project?

We always go with local companies who have been in business a long time and have good reviews.  We talk with them and for example if they are doing some heat and air work that needs carpentry they would either be able to do it or be able to refer us to someone they work with and know.

I just don't trust the big box stores for things like that.  I don't think they keep a staff of installers on a long term basis and I don't like that.

What a timely thread. I've been dealing with Lowe's on a french door install FOR MONTHS now! Woman Frustrated They ordered the door incorrectly- with hinges on the outside (hello burgulars!! Woman Indifferent) - and they've been horrible with follow up  about correcting the problem. It seems the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing- and their communocation wihtin the company is terrible.  I ordered it in January!!

I think it depends on the store and also the department you're delaing with - check local reviews. Becasue I had my kitchen countertops redone by the same Lowe's (quartz) and they were terrific. The installer was kind of abrupt and rude but his craftsmanship was precise. It's the reason I went back to them for this project!

I would never, ever recommend Lowes. Horrible service from the store it's self to the contractors.

From the date of ordering carpet and wood flooring, it took approximately 8 months to complete. Wrong size ordered, wrong color, lost rolls, three no shows by contractors. The list goes on and on.

My experiecne with Lowes wall to wall carpeting is the measurements were way off- I have enough extra carpeting for another small room!

Re: Anyone used Lowe’s for a home project?

Our local Lowe's installed our garage door openers and the contractor who came out was excellent.  He was also the one who installed our microwave that we purchased from HH Gregg.  The microwave was not an easy installation and he did an excellent job.  It really depends on the quality of the contractor.

The next time that I hear salt and ice together, it better be in a margarita!
