Re: Anyone have an adjustable bed?

I've had an adjustable base for my TemperPedic for almost ten years, I adore it.  I honestly give thanks every  morning when I wake up for that bed.  I slept in a recliner for years after I blew out an intervertebral disc because I could not lay flat.  I was able to put the base for the "full" mattress inside the frame of my antique bed that has a headboard and footboard, so that adds a bit more complication to changing the sheets, but I manage, it's so very worth it.

Since you've never had an adjustable base before, it may take a little experimentation to find just the right height for your head and feet, and you may find yourself tossing and turning a bit until you hit the sweet spot, but once you find it you'll love it.  You may even find yourself setting it back to flat from time to time, or raising the head and foot even more, depending on your activity that day, that's the beauty of the adjustable base.  I hope you find it as helpful and comfortable as I have, best wishes!

@Desert Lily@HLP@PINKdogWOOD, all good advice.  One thing that I get from reading the reviews is that some say after a couple of years either the adjustable mechanism stopped working or the mattress got way too soft.  It would be hugely disappointing to have that happen.  A good warranty is important I think.  Any of you had this type of bed for years?  LM

You do have to make sure you buy the correct mattress. Not any kind of mattress will work.

Re: Anyone have an adjustable bed?

@Lilysmom  We've had our's for 5-6 yrs now, no problems. Our's adjusts head & feet DH doesn't like his feet/legs up though. Not sure why he complains of leg cramps often. I like both but I can't have my head up too much because I get neck cramps.

We've even taken our entire bed apart so that the new wall to wall could be installed. Yes, we actually disassembled and re-assembled ourselves. It was crazy, I was skeptical but we did it. Pieces and parts are awkward & heavy but no problems and it all works.

If I were in the market now I'd (1) try out more varieties of beds, (2) if I went w/a tempur I WOULD NOT buy an adjustable imo for us it just was not necessary but almost a novelty b/c we could, (3) depending on what I now might choose, I'm not sure I'd even invest in a base or what we know as 'box springs' of sorts depending again on the brand including a tempur. Tempurpedics are thick and become high off the ground on their base, much higher than trad mattress/box regardless of a plain base or one for adj to accomodate the mechanics underneath.

Take your time, try MANY before you invest.

@PINKdogWOOD, great feedback.  I think I will start looking around in the new year.

I am impressed that you and DH did reassembly yourselves.  Good job!  LM

The kind where you can raise and lower the head and/or foot of the mattress?   Soon be time for me  to buy a new bed and I was thinking this would be a nice feature.  All feedback appreciated.  TIA.  LM

We've been looking at an adjustable beds for a long time now.  It's on our to do/ to get list.  The Leggett & Platt seems to have the highest ratings and very good reviews, but of course, most expensive.

Re: Anyone have an adjustable bed?

Hello everyone.  I ordered a Sleep Science adjustable bed last night from Costco in queen size.  Thank you so much for your input.  Will post when it is received and set up.  LM
