Other than a longer delivery interval, I haven't had a problem with any of the UPS/USPS and Fed Ex/USPS collaborations. However, I've started seeing a lot of broken items sent through USPS lately. I had the same problem last year for the first six months of the year, then service improved, but now I'm back to a high percentage of broken items. It's frustrating because these items are packed well. Unless the boxes are being thrown great distances, I don't understand how the items inside are getting broken. Anyway, that's my rant. Sorry, I didn't mean to hijack your thread, but the topic hit a sore spot with me.

Huh. Sounds like they figure, "we'll just blame it on the other place. No one will know who manhandled it." That's the problem with these "collaborations"...the buck doesn't stop anywhere.

You are so right..no one's responsible.

Re: Anyone else have Smartpost horror stories??

Yes twice since Dec 10. Both times package marked as delivered. First package I never received, and was issued a credit by the vendor. Second package, from Amazon, marked as delivered and I didn't receive it. Called Amazon they gave me a refund, and sent me out another in a new order. I then called the local PO. I was told that it was dropped off at the PO in a neighboring city, then they lost all track of it. It was signed for by someone in the other city, and so he said Amazon had mixed up the order numbers and sent the signer something they had ordered with the order number that they assigned to my order. I received the original order 4 days later, on the day that they had guaranteed the replacement to arrive, and the replacement came the following day. {#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}

I've never had any issues getting my items shipped via Smartpost. It usually just takes an extra day. I like Smartpost in the fact that I can still receive my package on Saturday instead of waiting till Monday if it was sent via UPS.

Maybe Amazon will get the message! What a mess, glad you got your order, finally!

I got a lot of packages via smartpost during the holidays and never had a problem. Received them all. Maybe the staff at your post offices aren't honest.

Re: Anyone else have Smartpost horror stories??

Q uses UPS and SurePost. SmartPost is FedEx driven.

With UPS, you can set up UPS Tracking. Will track ANY package being shipped to you from ANYPLACE. It's address and name driven. You just have to make sure you give them ALL the names that will be on packages. Once you set this up, you will get an email the day before delivery with the UPS shipping number and when it's scheduled for delivery, even down to a time frame. After delivery, there will be a delivery confirmation email sent. Email address can be somethng totally different from the email address you use for a vendor purchase.

Have had lots of things come both SurePost and SmartPost with no problems. If there's an issue, it generally happens AFTER item is delivered to USPS, not before.

Disney and Amazon uses SmartPost all the time. Anytime I order from them, package rarely takes more than 3 days. One time, I did have a delivery that didn't show up from Amazon. I called them on a Saturday - my product was to be delivered on Friday. Amazon credited my account for the purchase, and reshipped the car part FedEx OVERNIGHT. Was delivered SUNDAY. Free item, overnight Sunday delivery. That's service! Love Amazon.

PACKAGE PROGRESS: CITY STATE DATE TIME

Notice Left (Receptacle Blocked) MY TOWN GA 01/28/2014 14:01

Out for Delivery MY TOWN GA 01/28/2014 9:01

If they actually attempted delivery, and left a notice, where did they put the notice? If notice was left in the mailbox, the package was very small, and it would have been left in the box WITH THE NOTICE. HELLO! Heavens, my mailman can easily stuff a body in the mailbox. No notice in box, none on either door. Mailbox was NOT blocked by anything. (There is NO way a mailman EVER attempted delivery). At least FedEx and UPS state that due to local weather, delivery was not attempted.

Re: Anyone else have Smartpost horror stories??

My things come the UPS/ USPS way, one day things just started showing up that way and it took me awhile to even figure out what was going on, had never heard about this at the time. Things do take longer to get to me now. Post Office told me after confirmation that the item was delivered to them, it's still 2-4 days before I actually get it.
