Any way to make indoor wreaths - outdoor wreaths??

I snapped up several Christmas wreaths for a steal and was thinking I could use them next Christmas for grave decorations. They are really beautiful with faux red berries, sprayed pine cones, etc. However, after purchasing them, I saw that the tags said for indoor use only. I got these on clearance so I cannot return them.

My question is --- is there something I can spray on them or a treatment I can use which would help weatherize them so that I could put them outside?

Thanks so much! I feel dumb that I did this. That's what I get for buying things and not reading the tags!!!

I'd guess it's got to be things made in the wreath that will make it outside. Just like you saw on the tags, some things are just for indoor use or they'll be wrecked. Natural substances.

Hi Angel, I would spray with clear sealer and put them out on graves. You said they were purchased at a good price and since they will only be used there for a short period of time, if they are ruined at the end of the season, they have served your purpose.

Also, if only the embellishments are damaged, you can save the green part of the wreath and add a new bow and other trim.

That's very kind of you to do that.

I agree with the clear sealer. I make seashell wreaths for outdoors and spray them. It also adds a touch of sheen to the wreath. Good luck. Such a nice idea.

I used to find a product at Walmart in their craft section that was for spraying on outdoor crafts (I used it on wood a lot) to make it repel the weather. Can't remember what it was called, and don't know if they still make it, but I'm sure any craft store would have something like that.

I agree with a clear sealer. If you want to add a bit more sparkle, you could sprinkle some on while the sealer is still wet.

I ran into the same problem right before Christmas when I looked into putting wreaths on top of the bare earth on the containers on the front porch to perk them up for the season. In the end I didn't buy any.

Thanks so much for your replies. Several of you mentioned using a clear sealer. Can someone elaborate on that --- as to what this is exactly? I am unsure.

I don't really care if they can be used again since they were such a good price. I'd just like for them to last a week or two for Christmas.

I guess a lesson learned --- to pay more attention to tags when buying something.

I appreciate your help!
