Any body ever return a mattress topper?

We got a 3 inch mattress topper. We thought it would be firmer, so we are returning it. Boy it was a struggle to get it back in the box. It took both of us. We got heavy duty packing tape to tape it up. It cost QVC  $15.00 to get it to me. Can't wait to see what it will cost to send it back. Will update on the cost.

@Barbarainnc.  I've heard that it's possible to mail items in the big contractors (extra heavy) plastic bags.  This would have been a good occasion to inquire at the post office about this.  Those toppers are mechanically compress to get them in a box.  I can't imagine how you ever repackaged it; it must have been quite a chore.

@Barbarainnc, I bought mine at Costco store.  I made sure I could return it if I didn’t like it.  Loved it so not a problem.  Big bulky items are a pain!  LM

Re: Any body ever return a mattress topper?

Very timely post---I just bought a really wonderful mattress pad/topper from AMZ----but I ordered the wrong size!!! I need a full and ordered a queen, so it hangs over by a few inches. It was packaged in a hermetically sealed bag so no way could I get it back into the shape. I requested a return---would have cost me $11, not bad, but I decided to keep it as the length is fine just a few inches over hang on one side. It would have been free to return to an Amz store however that was not anywhere near where I live.

I fold it in thirds lengthwise. Started at one end, flattening it and wrapping it in plastic as I went down it. I folded it like cinnamon roll, and kept squishing it in the box. We finally got it in. Whew!!! 30 pound box to haul to the post office.

@wagirl, My sister ordered a King  for her King size bed but didnt like it.  My bed is a

Queen so I took a serrated knife and cut off the piece that was hanging over. It worked

great. Some people also use an electric carving knife.

Re: Any body ever return a mattress topper?

sage---I couldn't do that with this topper---it is a very thick mattress cover so the  there is a skirt attached to it that tucks under the mattress. The loft is pretty thick tho--almost 2 inches and is quite soft and comfy. But I have taken a serratd knife to a foam/latex topper before.
