Any TIPS for surviving a kitchen remodel?

I am in the infancy of a remodel. My contractor came over to measure the space, and plans are being drawn up using the dimensions of my current space. When I get them back, I am supposed to go to the supplier's showroom to price out cabinet/countertop selections.

I own a townhome and so I will not be doing any "construction" in the kitchen- just using the current floorplan and adding a few things like taller cabinets (to the ceiling) and a set of cabinets under the bar area. The kitchen is 20 years old, with builder grade cabinets and laminate countertops. The previous owners changed the original floor and replaced it with linoleum. Since moving in, I have changed out the lighting fixture, installed a new dishwasher, garbage disposal (had not been wired previously), new refrigerator (added water line for the icemaker), and a new range hood/exhaust.

I will be going with standard sizes of everything, and whatever is in stock, so that I can begin when school gets out and hopefully the kitchen will be done within two weeks. He says they can move my refrigerator into the dining room so at least I can eat cold foods and heat up food using the microwave. I also have a Vitamix and a crock pot.

Do you have any tips to share about surviving a remodel? I cook daily, so just being without my kitchen will take some getting used to.
