Ive used Ronsonol Lighter fuel on butter grease, car grease, and most any hard to remove stain......I always used in the past Energene but they no longer have it. on a place under the chair covering test a spot first. I get the Ronsonel wherever they still sell cigaretts. Most of the time Dawn dish liquid will do the job.But there is always that one stain that seems impossible....

I agree, use lighter fluid! Apply the lighter fluid directly to the oil stain, but don't put too much on at a time or the lighter fluid might spread out the oil stain and make it bigger. Pour barely enough on the grease to cover it and then blot at it. Let it dry and repeat until the stain is gone. Use a white cotton cloth (old t-shirt is good). If you use a colored cloth, the color might transfer to the chair.
Good luck!

Have you tried any of those stain removal products that the Q hawks from time to time?

No, I haven't. I did think about searching QVC for those. Thanks for the suggestion.

I've never had a butter stain, but I've gotten good results removing other stains using Resolve Upholstery Cleaner. Good luck, i know it's frustrating!!

Just yesterday I had to deal with a grease stain on a new PACT t-shirt my husband wore for the first time.
I don't have much faith in any of the store-bought degeasers. My tried and true is a bit of blue Dawn with hydrogen peroxide. Works every time!

I got a grease stain on a light colored top. I haven't been having luck lately with my usual go to's. I remembered someone told me to use a baby wipe, but I didn't have any. I decided to use a cleaning wipe. It wasn't Clorox wipes, but something similar. I wasn't sure what to expect. It took the stain out. I then put water on a paper towel and blotted it. I was wearing the top at the time. 😀 If all else fails, try it.

I've always had good results using plain old blue Dawn on animal fat stains.
