Re: Am I the only one who actually enjoys doing laundry?

I like doing laundry. There's something about the smell of clean clothes and linens. I don't have a clothes line, but have a little rack that sometimes in the summer I'll put a few things outside to dry. I remember as a kid, my grandmother used to hang all the washing on the clothes line. The smell of clothes that have been dried outside is lovely. I also like to iron.

Re: Am I the only one who actually enjoys doing laundry?

I love doing laundry as I don't like to see clothes pile up.

Lots of times I choose what I'm going to wear according to what's piling up the fastest. Darks or colors or pastels or whites.

I wash my clothes and DH's separately.

Socks are a load unto themselves. Same for bath mats.

I hang clothes outside 99.9% of the time.

If I had to use a public washer, I would have it go through a whole cycle with just Clorox first.

Re: Am I the only one who actually enjoys doing laundry?

Laundry is my favorite household chore. I don't let clothes pile up so unless I am doing sheets or towels, I rarely have a super load. It's just the two of us and we don't dirty too many clothes as we are retired.

When my children were little I hung clothes on my clotheslines outside. I loved the way my sheets and clothing smelled after drying in the fresh air. We lived on a farm in the country so there was no worry of pollution like there is today. (By pollution I mean car fumes, factories, that sort of thing).

Re: Am I the only one who actually enjoys doing laundry?

I love doing laundry and I'm picky. Everything has to be done a certain way to get nice and clean. My laundry out of the dryer always smells so nice.

I also like to iron. (Horrors!!!)

I'm thinking about having my DH get me an umbrella clothesline for once in awhile when the weather is just right for drying outside.

Yes! I multitask it w/ other inside chores rather well.

I love doing laundry. I pride myself in making the clothes soft and smelling great. And yes, I love folding our clothes in a perfect way. Making sure that our drawers are all in perfect order. Then of course, ironing is a must.

Re: Am I the only one who actually enjoys doing laundry?

My college roommate LOVED doing laundry - everything about it, the entire process, all of her many supplies, the washing, the folding, etc. I never understood that, although she tried to explain it to me several times.

The only part I agree with is the great feeling at the end when it's all done! Everything nice and clean, smelling good, all fresh and "new". Some days (and only some days), it's nearly worth going thru the whole process, but most of the time I dread having to do it and try to get it over with as quickly & painlessly as possible. Kiss

I wouldn't say I enjoy it, but I don't mind it. Same with doing the dishes.

What I hate: mowing the lawn and shoveling snow.

I don't actually mind the act of washing clothes --

It's the folding up and putting away part that bothers me... Lol

As household tasks go, I suppose it's not among my least favorite things to do, but no, I'd never consider it 'fun'. Folding and putting away can be a pain in the neck.
