Re: Air purifier recommendation

I only have some second hand experience to offer here.

My mom tried several brands a number of years ago (so the new ones might be much different), but don't choose anything with a disposable filter. They cost a lot to keep buying, and tend to become unavailable over time.

I had a very small and inexpensive unit once, and honestly, I don't think it did much. I felt the same way about the more expensive ones my mom had as well.

Re: Air purifier recommendation

My son bought this for me Christmas 2014...it has been running 24/7 since February, 2015.  I have horrible sinus and allergy problems, and this particular purifier has helped so much.  It's the Coway AP-1512HH.  I believe he purchased through A_ _zon.  Google it, rated very high and does lots more than filter dust and odors.  My son does lots of research on items he purchases, especially higher end items, and this one got flying colors!

Re: Air purifier recommendation

HSN just about two weeks ago had 2 for $199.  They have several different ones.  I guess QVC has some too.

I have a lot of different ones.  I had an electronic one on my house unit and hated it.  I could smell Ozone and it drove me crazy.  I keep one going in the bedroom all of the time

It's amazing to see the gunk and crud it catches.  Get one that you can clean the filters.

Re: Air purifier recommendation

I purchased a set of Hunter from HSN last year, one small one large. Recently I've been using them everyday and I love them.  It's my first experience with air purifiers but the filter is ion so I only have to rinse it when the time comes.

Re: Air purifier recommendation

I invested my money in some very expensive hepa filters for my furnace. They are disposable, of course, but they work very well and there is no maintenance. Just make sure your furnace can handle the flow restriction when installed. Some older furnaces will exhibit some strain on the motor if these hepa filters are used because the filtration is very fine.

Re: Air purifier recommendation

've had good luck with Homedics.  I have a ton of allergies and asthma so I always have large size models plus a whole house Hepa system for summer use.

I like the units that have permanent filters., oscilate, speed variety and a timer. Depending on your budget the timer feature is uaually about $80 more on the larger units.  Check the room size that they will cover. I have a semi open floor plan so I have a large unit for each level and a smaller one for the bedroom
