I have several Dyson air filters in my home, which are wonderful, particularly in the kitchen area when I fry things.

However, this weekend I started burning my Fall candles. Lovely scent, but my filters kicked in. I never think about it when they started gearing up to a higher level of filtering when I am doing things in the kitchen; it is getting rid of the odors/toxins. But when they go up several notches when I burn the candles, the nice scent of the candles which I want to have......there's no way the filters know which odors you want and which you don't. ha!

Guess it is the same with perfumes, which I don't use.

I want the air to filter out the bad, but guess I have to live with the fact that the good smells/scents will be filtered out/down too. Smiley Sad

I turn my large filters off when I burn my candles. Once I etinquishe the candles then I turn the filters vack on. I also try to keep the candles in the rooms that the filters are now. This is what works for me. Our house is a semi open floor plan.

@Fressa Good suggestion! I will turn them off in the evening when I burn the candles, then turn them back on before I go to bed.

I have a rather larger, ranch-style home, so I have four Dysons throughout the house that are spread out in various rooms. But turning them off/on so I can enjoy the candles will be worth it. Should have thought of that. ha!

In one of the bathrooms I have the Slatkin diffuser, and in my home office, I have his "sticks," so I do enjoy have the various scents throughout the home. It is nice to come home from work and have the scents welcome me. Smiley Happy

We have 3 air purifiers going 24/7. 2-1000 sq ft Honeywell and 1-2000 sq ft Rabbit.

After reading about toxins in our homes, we added these units that have both HEPA and Carbon filters. Lung health is important at any age.

VOC (volitile organic compounds) can be given off by candles burning, paint, carpets, and dry cleaning to name a few. It is not good to breathe these toxins.

I got more interested in air quality when a friend was diagnosed with Idopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. This is a terrible uncurable disease.  But one thing that is mentioned is being exposed to and breathing toxins.
