AUSTIN KITCHEN THAT COMBINES DIFFERENT WOODS

Screenshot 2024-07-23 at 2.38.17 PM.png

Love the eclectic mix in here of the painted wood, with that gorgeous natural wood, glass-fronted cupboard.  Each is distinct, but they meld together beautifully.  The burnished natural wood brings a sense of the past, and a certain soulfulness.

Closer up on that yummy cabinet-

The kitchen is in a house in Austin done by San Antonio designer Alison Giese.

She does really nice kitchens, that are individual to each house, not cookie-cutter.

Love this breakfast area part of the porch.

And the rest of the porch/ sunroom is a great place to lounge--

Lots of fun touches, like the rustic console at this end--

The den is comfy too--

Its really really pretty!!! I had to look at the kitchen for a while, wasn't sure I liked the Wood cabinet with the white and blue, but after looking at it a while, I decided I really do like it. It's different and unique, and i would match up the bar stools with that same rich wood to incorporate it even more.

@Oznell  Just beautiful!  I have a root table like that but it's shorter. It's in my screen porch. It's Indonesian and it came from the Hunt & Lane store in Rehobeth Beach, DE.  They have gorgeous furniture and I wish I could afford more...everything in the store is hand crafted in Indonesia.

really nice house--just not a fan of the dark blue island or that counter top hutch---too dark.

Wish I had that gas stove w/the double ovens.

@bmorechick ,  how lucky you are to have a table with that wonderful, twisting organic root base!  I've always admired those in high end designs-- they lend such drama and natural vitality.  I bet it is heavy to move.  Indonesian furniture is just beautiful--  I bet that store is a dream to browse in...

I love the beautiful white couches.  I'm seeing them everywhere in home design, but I can't help but wonder if people actually sit on them.  hahaha. Do any of these people have kids or dogs??

As far as the kitchen goes, I'm not a fan.  I love the wooden hutch, but think it looks out of place with all the white.

I really love it and yes, it weighs a ton so it stays where it is!  I love going in there to browse but get disappointed because I can't buy what I really want ($$$$).  But so fun to look and it's a beautiful store. I got this table when they first opened and were trying to make a name for themselves and the prices were so reasonable.

Re: AUSTIN KITCHEN THAT COMBINES DIFFERENT WOODS

I have white cabinets, very dark blue, almost black island base.  I have two benches of acacia wood and chairs of white and table white with acacia wood top.  I like the mix.  I have paraquet (real wood) floors in kitchen and breakfast room.  My light fixtures over island are identical to these.
