Re: ATTN: SHOPR RE: Joann's Paper Houses..

I so wanted to go to Joanns last evening to look at these, and to be able to buy at a reduced price. But I was really tired from driving 45 minutes one way, to and from, and taking care of little kids all day, and cooking a full dinner for them.

Our son moved to a new house, and I used to drive 2 minutes and get to their house! I like that better, LOL!

Out of curiousity, I emailed Joann's to see if someone can provide the measurements for the squirrel and deer.  This is the first time I've ever asked them anything, so we'll see if they can provide an answer...

@SHOPR If nothing else, your query may suggest to them that they should carry such information on their website.

Here is the resonse I received from joann.com about the mini deer and squirrel figurines seen above:

For item number 14400709 (Squirrel) the length is 1.380 inches the width is .75 inch and the height is 1.250 inches.

For item number 14400675 (Deer) the length is 2.13 inches the width is 1.130 inches and the height is 1.750 inches.

Hi @SHOPR.  Nice to know they responded to your email.  I wasn't interested in buying though.  I thought you were.  LOL.

Just letting you know that they responded, even though it took a long time.  I will have to think on these and determine how they might look along with the red house country gal bought, now that I know their size.

Did you order any yet? I see they are $8.99 today. I paid $10.49 for mine but I got free shipping that day. Anyway, I went to my store yesterday and was really disappointed in the ones they had. Several were almost an inch smaller than mine that I got, and I really think the price is too high for those. Just wanted to give you a HU so you wouldn't be disappointed. I was really looking forward to getting a couple others for different scenes, but I'll just be satisfied with the one I got as it is by far the nicest. HTH

@country gal, We were traveling and I found out that a Joann's was nearby, so I went in to look at the houses and figurines.  I did not see your red house, but I did see some of the others including one of the light blue houses that I kinda liked online.  They were just ok, but the real kicker is that I decided to pull the tab out from behind the button battery case, to see how it would look lit, and when I pulled out the tab, the battery was already dead or defective.  It wouldn't work at all.  I was so annoyed that I didn't buy it and it was the only one in that style.

I also saw the squirrel and fawn.  The fawn might pass as an acceptable size for the ornament houses, even though he is a little too big to be 100% accurate.  The squirrel is a cutie, but he's way too big to go with the ornament sized houses.  Oh well.  I left empty-handed, but was glad I got to see the selection up close.

@SHOPR, glad you were able to see the fawn and squirrel.  Fawn must be quite small to look okay next to the houses.  They'd probably you'd not pull the tab on the battery compartment, however they really ought to have some illuminated buildings on display (they didn't at my store either).  I suppose if you bought one and it didn't light-up, it could be returned - and they'd probably put on the rack to sell again.

@ValuSkr.  I only ever pull the tabs on items like this when I am about to purchase it.  I would have bought the blue house if it had worked, just to get one and get it over with.  LOL.  I didn't try to turn on any of the others, and none were already lighted on display, just jumbled together on one tiny shelf with no price marked.  Weird.
