Good lord....alarm sounded an hour ago on TV....thunder, lightening and large winds...rain....we've had high temps and our power was shut off 2 x.....

The thunder woke me up this morning. It's been going on for over two hours. (It's about 8:30 a.m. Pacific.)

So far, my particular area has not had its power shut off. Fingers crossed.

It's pretty wet out there, too.

I'm miles north of the area highlighted on the map, but my, it is noisy.

Something I've never heard (of).

I'll have to web search it.

I just Web searched 'What is a roll cloud?', and lots of information.  And images.

It's supposedly a rare phenomenon.

@4kitties - I had never heard the word"derecho" before last week!!  Glad you came through it okay. Weird weather.  It's been so hot and humid here on the east coast. Drains us of energy. Stay safe. Stay well. 💗

thank you!  I am in Central Illinois and only got the southern edge of the derecho.  Only lost power for about 4 hours and no structural damage.  Lots of branches and twigs down. 

Poor Iowa got the worst of it.
