Actually there's nothing I like about that room.  The Gothic ceiling would make me uncomfortable, I dislike green in decorating and the sofa, arrangement looks, stiff and uncomfortable.

Thank goodness they don't still build houses like that.

The focus of this photo is supposed to be the rug. Liberty and The Rug Company collaborated to develop a collection of six rugs (four of which are pictured below) and this is one of them. Essentially then, the room is more or less an ad for the rug. Personally, I like the room, overall, though I don't care for the coffee table, which were this a real room, would be too far away from both sofas to serve either.

I love green in anything, but like some others I think this is more grey-green.

 I would change all of the furniture. Maybe modified Queen Anne sofas? My mom's white on white mahogany sofa would have been perfect here! I like the idea of a glass top coffee table, but it can't be too modern looking.

 I don't like the art work either. It takes away from the relationship between the rug and the walls. I think a simple display, with thinner frames, would be better. I'm not even sure I like the gold frames.

DH and I went to a spring house display show where we toured houses from different time periods. One was on the market. It was beautiful, but way out of our price range! The parlor had an oriental rug that matched the painted ceiling. It was beautiful!

@Jersey Born,

I liked your description of the room better than the room.😄

It does remind me of a church and I think I would be a little creeped out living in a room like that, even claustrophobic despite it being so high.

I do like the pretty silver grey color.

Reminds me something out of a gothic romance novel. I like the rug, but the room color looks gray to me.

I think everything except the modern coffee table flows well.

This is a very unique room and I like most of it a lot but I would tire of it very quickly. I agree the coffee table appears out of place and to some extent the rug does too.

I don't care for this at all.  I found it rather strange.  The gold designs which looked rather like leaves and vines growing down, felt like they were pointing down at me and closing in on me!

It's very cool looking, but not my style. It does remind me of a church. It is definitely different, and would be quite the statement room in one's home..
