This style is called eclectic. My best friend and her husband collect antiques, including many objects d'art and they craftily mix them with furniture from different periods. They are good at it. Their house does not looks bare as the one from the OP. It also does not look staged.

I too would start all over with this room, the only thing I like is the rug, but it definitely needs more, starting with some color.
