2 Old School House Features

[ Edited ]

My house is currently on the market. While browsing online for a new home, I've been wishing for a stationary tub and a screened porch/sun room - 2 old school features.

Are there any Old School features that you wish you had in your home?

@Desert Lily    What do you mean by "stationary tub"?  I thought all tubs were stationary and stayed in place.

@Kachina624     In Midwestern "speak"......that is a separate deep washtub (with plumbing) in the laundry room, basement, or garage....and a good size for bathing a dog, too

Hi @Kachina624  A stationary tub is a stub that stands next to the washer and dryer. It's in the laundry room or in the basement - if that's where the washer & dryer are. I want a sink to hand wash some items, wash out craft and paint containers, give the dog a bath, etc. that's not in the kitchen or bathroom.

I don't see why a laundry sink - tub would be considered Old School.  Every house manufactured in the last .....50+ years has one in the laundry area.  Tub is a must when washer empties at a rapid rate of speed while spinning..........tub holds water until pipe can accommodate the gallons going out.

Hello @fthunt  Maybe newer homes in your surrounding area have stationary tubs like those pictured by @Desertdi , but the houses around here don't have them. Washers & Dryers in laundry closets don't have stationary tubs, nor do those in kitchens or bathrooms. I've been looking online to purchase a new house for months, and only a small handful have had stationary tubs and they were in older homes. Those tubs sure are handy though.

@fthunt     That is not the case where I live.   A "few" high-end homes might have them.....but it is not common.

If I could magically reconfigure my kitchen, I would love to have a Dutch door in it.
