1905 PENNSYLVANIA HOUSE DECKED OUT FOR HOLIDAY

Since Valerie is winding up her Christmas visit, here's a traditional old house with its own holiday cheer:

Don't you love those green shingles?  This is the lucky Washington, D.C.-based designer's second home.  It's in the Poconos.  Her hubby apparently begged for more neutrals in this house, and she complied, but was able to use more pattern than she usually does.  But I think she still managed to get in quite a bit of color too.  She said for Christmas she also brings in red lampshades and red pillows, etc. as a seasonal accent.

I don't know, the house reminds me of the excitement of childhood Christmases.  There are young children who live in this house, so they get to experience this whole festive surrounding-- what fun!

Since this is their "getaway" from the big city, you can see

she has brought in lots of woodsy, rustic elements:

With the cheery red accents in kitchen, she doesn't need to add much specific "holiday" decor, but I love the one gingerbread house on the counter:

Oh, in the dining room I forgot to show you the close up of her gorgeous majolica collection:

Sitting area of the master bedroom.  Cozy!

This is my dream house. They’ve captured the spirit of Christmas without going overboard into gaudy or that “all for show” look.

Beautiful.

Stunning from begining to end. I could curl up and relax in any of those rooms. I especially love the stone fireplaces.

Very tastefully done without a lot of cheap-looking, glittery Christmas junk.

LOVE everything with the exception of the yellow green walls which are too far removed from the period.  She choose beautiful prints.  Her dining room table is almost an exact duplicate of mine.Smiley Happy

Love much of it, especially the Christmas tree.
Don’t like: Brown kitchen cabinet curtains and dislike all of the bedrooms.
