Thought this was so interesting.  Kristina and Karl ( don't know their last name) are renovating this old Swedish manor.

One of the reasons I was fascinated, is that Scandinavians often tend to treat their old manor houses a bit more casually, even at Christmas, not "over-filling" them, and they often integrate very modern design with very antique elements.

Beautiful fresh flowers in the entrance--

Charming vintage print...

Kristina decorates most with simple ribbon, branches and flowers.  The open doorway shows vintage Thonet-type bentwood chairs.  Swedes and Danes seem to love all things Thonet.  The famous author of "Out of Africa",  Isak Dinesen ( Baroness Karen Blixen) furnished her Danish manor house, magical "Rungstedlund",  quite similarly.

Love the original gilt frame around the portrait of the first owner of the house-- the frame is from the late 18th century.  I like the way Kristina off-set it assymetrically with her taper candles....

In a corner of the library, ancient leather bound books, and traditional sconces, but modern seating and accent lamp...

Love the kitchen, with its long table, striking blue and white tiled stove, and magnificent coffered ceiling...

The tree continues the simplicity...

It has a radiant glow, amid the frigid Swedish winter!

I like the flowers and the painting of the little girl with the tree.

Hate the dining room chairs and to me having a picture of the original owner would be creepy.Woman LOL

The modern furniture and things makes me think of a style my mother had when it was popular. I can't remember the name of the store but had Scandinavian type furniture. I never liked it. Not fluffy enough!Woman LOL

It wasn't Ikea. I think it started with an S but I'm not sure.

While I loathe all things snow, I will admit that view is stunning.  She's done a beautiful job making it warm and inviting and I can only imagine how hard it is to keep the place warm, and pricey too!

This beautiful home is very complimentary to its surroundings and I like that.

That being said I am not a big fan of yellow. I would love to see this home is a very pale blue or very pale sage. Even just white and black trim would be pretty.

I like the interior..it looks a bit dark and gloomy but it might just be the photos. All that bright white snow should make it brighter than it appears.

I think her tree is beautiful.  My all time favorite Christmas tree would be a Noble Fir and this looks like one, or close to it. Cat Very Happy

@Oznell What a picturesque sight. That Manor in the snow picture is just dreamy....oh how I wish we lived in an area that got snow on a regular basis! Magical....

My 2 favorite rooms are the kitchen  and the room with the tree. As for the kitchen, ditto everything you said (ceiling, table and blue & white fireplace all beautiful).

The tree room is gorgeous, the tree, the wallpaper, the wall paneling, is that a metal fireplace?love, the mirror and the garland on the fireplace made from dried oranges and greenery is perfection! I want that room!

I don't necessarily adore all this but there is something very charming about it.

Re: 1770's SWEDISH MANOR

[ Edited ]

Edited to add: I watched the YouTube of the 4-year reno. There are beautiful marble mantles, gold-framed floor-to-ceiling mirrors, & several more fantastic ceilings in other areas of the house.

It looks like a very nice estate

It's not Americana but it is Swedish and I find it hopeful and cheerful.  It is their way and it is done well.  I like the colors she has used.  Overall, I guess I can say, I like it.  I love our way of Christmas decor but perhaps, we have incorporated too much that is not real into our decor and hers seems to be real and simple, yet charming.
