What an amazing little curiosity! It is two tiny structures, that were combined-- one an 1880 carriage house, and one a 1919 studio.
It is the second smallest house in Manhattan.
Hats off to the architect couple who pulled off a massive renovation some years ago. The site "Habitually Chic" has all the details-- the wee house (combined and at one time owned by eccentric Armand Hammer) underwent quite the transformation.
The sitting room is dramatic. Love that loft-like "sky-light" at the top.
That majestic painting over the fireplace in this "volume" space is ideal for the room.
Traditional dining on a small scale.
An atmospheric small bar. Everything is so English-- like the interior curtains. That's a feature Americans tend not to like, but the Brits think it cures drafts in old buildings....
They probably don't cook much-- takeout is pretty good where they live, ha.
That puddy is the ideal accessory.
This is a kitchen nook it would be hard to leave. The tiles around the hearth are Delft. Color scheme a nod to Monet?
A glimpse from the gallery hallway into the spare bedroom.
Pocket-sized master bedroom.
They put the non-electric chandelier on pulleys, so it can be lowered for the candles to be lit. Shades of the romantic 18th century! And what a charming little second story gallery, for gazing outside.
Secluded garden spot.
Is it not a doll house? A doll house with grandeur. No doubt there are drawbacks, but I'm just reveling in the charm, and the care with which it was renovated-- all the materials are natural, and of enviable quality.
It's on the market now, for umpteen dollars of course. I feel this kind of remodel of old brick buildings could happen in a lot of cities, if only you had the dough!

I like this house. Seems bigger than 1200 square feet.

@Oznell I'm confused on this - I'm assuming the front is the one with the arched doorway. Is the biulding to the right the one they added to this one?

That was quite the unusual coffee table!

I can house it while it's on the market . My bags are packed and I promise to be the best house guest .

Beautiful!!!!
I'd change some of the colors and furniture styles like the fringed chairs, but still everything works in this house.

Its stunning, although none of it is my taste.

This is adorable! I could live here in a heartbeat.
However, the floor plan and outside don't match. The outside is straight and the floor plan is angled. The inside does match the floor plan, tho. The guest room bath shows no sink.
Is this the same house?
