Re: 1-800 Got Junk. Anyone have experience?

Two really nice guys showed up on time and I just pointed to what I wanted to get rid of and it was done neatly and no trouble. I tried to tip them and they refused. Courteous and very inexpensive.

I found them to be expensive, I had an old style "box" floor model TV and no charity would TAKE IT.  SO I had to call them and they came and removed the item but here in the DC area it cost like 65.00 to remove it.

Check around as others have suggested.

$65 sounds reasonable to me?  It is heavy....and needed to go to the dump( fee involved)....truck wear and tear... gas$$$  and paying the two guys who work the job.

Do you have a 'freecycle' yahoo group in your area? One mans junk is anothers treasure- I've had my share of 'getting rid of' the last few years, between family, friends and my own downsizing.  I use freecycle most often. It's great to keep items out of the landfills - plus people want your stuff!! Through freecycle I also found a charity that provides for needy families in my area, they just picked up 4 picture tube tv's this week!!

@Andrewsgrandma I saw a truck with that written on the side around the neighborhood. I have used a business called 1800 Got Clutter at least two occasions and was very satisfied.

I hired them once and thought the price was high to get rid of one item but maybe when you have a few things it's more reasonable.  I would, however, hire them again as I have a giant old style tv I would love to get rid of, along with a piece of exercise equipment I don't use.

Yes, when we moved from our 11 house to 2 bedroom condo.  We raised the girls there and se had JUNK.  I did not expect it to be inexpensive and it wasn't.  It did cost more than the estimate but most things do.  It worked exactly like the commercial says.  Two nice young men in uniform arrived on time;  we pointed and they took.  Of course, we had everything neatly sorted.  I highly recommend them.  Paying was easy, they had that portable credit card thing and we tipped them with cash.

Re: 1-800 Got Junk. Anyone have experience?

I so appreciate every one taking the time to respond to this thread. Thought I'd give you an update. 1-800-Got Junk came today. They were prompt, very professional and very efficient. We had a lot of junk. Although in Phoenix, we are considered county. No bulk pick up, no discount at the dump. The young men were great. I am just blown away and disgusted by how much old, broken junk we had accumulated. I'm in no way a hoarder and I keep a clean home. Hubby on the other hand comes from a hoarding family and can't part with anything. He's away visiting family right now so this was my perfect opportunity to have the stuff hauled away. Most items were out by our barn. Household items were cat damaged furniture and old t.vs. our patio furniture had seen better days. Anyway, they loaded an empty truck. They were professional, friendly and just plain hard working. The cost to remove was exactly what I anticipated by my research. I'd use them again in a second. My house and garages feel so empty and wonderful! New patio furniture is being delivered Friday. I'm exhausted from all the purging but it's a great feeling. I will NEVER let stuff build up again! Funny how you just don't "see" stuff after awhile. I just got used to it although it bugged me and caused stress. I'm enjoying a nice glass of wine right now . Pets are wondering where their cozy perches are. I think they'll adjust, lol.
