ITA with @FancyPhillyshopper , it should be appreciated for what it is.  But for me if I could only remove one thing, it would be that horrible couch for sure.

I agree with other posters, the wall covering must go first, it is drab and unsightly.  I do not dislike everything in this room and in fact like the couch.  With a nice soft color on the walls first, the rest will be easy to change.

If I wasn't living there and  the homeowner loved the look , than I would move out that brown  item in the back of the room near the doorway & window  - can't tell if it is a bookcase or  a radio in a cabinet ???

Aw c'mon @lolakimono the whole room is awful and scary.  Okay, one thing if I have to..........the chairs.  But really I would strip the whole room   sorry

I've read that some designers only use chairs in living room. If the gray sofa were removed, I could tolerate the look.

For me, it's a total gut job but that paint/wall treatment would be the first thing I'd change.  I do "kinda" like the graphic design of the chairs.....I wouldn't want them for my home but I do like them.

Too cluttered and frankly ugly.  You have to tip toe in front of the sofa to get by.

While it would look good on @Drythe 's posts, I don't like it in this room.

I don't really like anything in this room, but I think removing the wall covering and painting a soft white or very pale grey would help a lot.
