@mousiegirl  That is gorgeous!  That being said, it isn't something I would display, as it certainly would give my grandchildren the wrong impression about the Holy Family. Yes, in symbolism, the elegant attire give them the regal connotation they deserve, but I don't think it is what we are supposed to remember from the Christmas story. Just my opinion. I don't mean to offend, as I really love the piece.

Of course, if the figures in nativity sets are anything but dark skinned, they are not realistic, but each to his own.

Those are beautiful!!  I’ve been wanting a nativity set.  Don’t mean to hijack your thread, but I’m curious what others think of this Jim Shore one.  It’s not as traditional or classic as the ones you posted.  I kind of like the neutral colors.  These are the best pics I could get.  The second pic is to show the scale of the pieces.
