Re: Who Is Buying The TSV Trees?

@Susan Louise, thanks for that information. That is good to know and I'm very sorry if I steered anyone wrong. I only told what I heard but I never heard they were already glued on. They made it sound as if we should almost expect one or two to be loose in the box. It must not be very good glue! lol!

@lucymo, this was at midnight. She was on with David and they were talking about how if it arrives and some of the bulbs have popped off, not to worry because you could just pop them back on. So I really do hope this will work out for you. I don't want to steer anybody wrong but that is what I heard them say on the very first presentation.

@Qgirl26.  I'm sure  you're right as the originals could be exchanged.  I appreciate you mentioning it.  No problem, I'll use it anyway.

@Qgirl26  During that presentation at midnight, did they demonstrate the bulbs could easily be removed and put back on?

@lucymo and anyone else...

The Mr Christmas ceramic tree I got in 2014 which I sent back due to poor lighting. I had considered removing the bulbs that were too saturated in color (blue, green and red) with lighter colored bulbs I was considering buying on EBay.

There were 2 problems with that idea...

1st, the bulbs on the Mr Christmas tree were glued in so well that I would have destroyed the tree trying to remove/replace them.

2nd, there are several sized bulbs available...so then there is the issue of which ones to buy to replace any on the tree...

Although it's great to be able to put the trees anywhere since there is no cord, I have so many other options to put decor in those places...like the center of a table, coffee table, bookcase, etc.

It does look like the Mr Christmas trees this year have better bulbs, but the lighting on the green trees don't look like they have improved much. The large white one I was considering for awhile, however, in all the presentations, I have yet to hear just once the number of hours the tree will be lit before batteries need to be changed.

VPH will at least give estimates with her decor...so does Home Reflections and Luminara...

So with all that said, I pass on this TSV.

@Susan Louise

In the questions and answer section on the product page QVC Rep said batteries on timer will last from Thanksgiving and Christmas.  There's no way of knowing how long before they dim though.  I have a lot of b/o pieces that will still light but grows dim awhile before they quit.  If I don't cancel I will keep mine out and test batteries as long as I can within the 30 days to return.  Thanks, SL.

@lucymo  Thanks for letting me know. I think overall though, I feel there are more negatives with this TSV than positives, so I'm still going to pass. Testing the batteries and posting the results will help everyone though. Don't forget, you have until January 31st...not just 30 days Smiley Happy

@Susan Louise  Of course I do have until January31, 2017.  Like I said earlier my brain is on vacation today.  I need my 'decor buddy' to keep me in line.  LOL  Thanks.

I'm sure there will be a lot of returns on these because a lot us had the plug in originals and the lights were wonderfully bright.  We probably couldn't afford batteries that would support that kind of brightness.

@Qgirl26  Don't worry about it.  That's why we're all here to pass along information and if we get it a little off others will correct it for us.  No problem.

@Qgirl26  That's actually funny! From my experience, the ones that are glued in...and still in upon getting the tree, the bulbs are glued in well. I say that because I don't want folks to think that the bulbs are easily removable so they can pick/replace the bulbs without destroying the tree Smiley Happy

Re: Who Is Buying The TSV Trees?

I admit it- I am a GREAT BIG SILLY for these trees.

I have my mother's ceramic one, my MIL's plastic one, THREE newer ones of my own ( one Lenox) and I bought 2 sets of the little ones, one green and one white.

I actually put them in almost every room.

They MEAN Christmas decorating to me!

Re: Who Is Buying The TSV Trees?

You heard Leslie correctly at midnight. She did say the you could pop the bulbs back in if they came loose.  You weren't wrong about that. I heard her say it too. She talked about them being glued in during a presentation this morning.

Re: Who Is Buying The TSV Trees?

I have been going back & forth all day wondering if I should order the small set in green.  It might just be me, but is the star on the small trees the same size as the star on the big tree?  It looks awfully big and kind of off-scale.  Not a big deal, but I know it would bother me so I'll probably pass on these.  I do have three of the old ones from the 60's (one with little birds for bulbs) so I'll enjoy decorating with those.  Besides, I told myself I would work with what I already have then decide if I need to add more (of anything).  To everyone who does order them ~ ENJOY!!!  :-)

Re: Who Is Buying The TSV Trees?

Haven't read all the replies yet, but just wanted to say that I'm skipping these.

I have two old ones. One my first husband had specially made for me in the early 80's. It is so elegant, larger than those shown today, with much more definition in the branches, and the paint is almost variegated like a real tree. It has a beautiful base with decoration carved into the ceramic, and the base also has a music box.

The person who made mine was thoughtful enough not to glue in the 'bulbs' so I could change them up if I wished to do so. She used two piece poinsettia inserts instead of traditional bulbs, and I love that different and upscale look.

A few years ago, my son bought me a white (mother of pearl looking) one with red bulbs that someone made in the early 1970's. It was really not my taste, but you know how you just kind of fall in love with something because your kid gives it to you? Well, I ended up building my entire new dining room holiday decor around that tree. I now do an elegant cardinal theme with red accents (and some gold) in there, just to feature that tree.

I posted on another thread that I think people either love ceramic Christmas trees or they hate them. I was never a fan of them, but both of mine were from very special people in my life, so I grew to love them so much. It wouldn't be Christmas without them now, and I'd be devastated if anything happened to either one of them.

As far as the TSV ones, I'm not at all impressed (except it would be nice with the battery option not to be tied to a plug). There is little definition to these, the bulbs don't seem to be in proportion to the tree itself, and I don't care for the colored lights (mostly the shades of them).

If people who aren't familiar with these, look at the old original ones on ebay. So many are so very detailed and beautiful some with flocking accents and other nice touches.

The only way I'd consider these would be for a small child or grandchild to have in their room. Safe with the battery operated function, and I'm sure they'd love to go to sleep at night gazing at them.

@violann  Sounds like you have a plan for the trees.  I actually had a tree from the 70's and  but I no longer have it. I actually like the simplicity of the TSV trees but I love clear lights better than any color.  Enjoy your new trees when they arrive.
