In my part of southern WV, it is dressing. No one in my family EVER cooked it inside the turkey; we shape it into individual patties and bake it at 400 to get crispy edges.
I no longer buy whole turkeys as my family does not like dark meat. I will be making my dressing tomorrow in my 20 cup Tupperware bowl. My family is only interested in eating turkey, dressing and gravy. Cranberry sauce is a must for me.

Not a fan of either, but were I too choose, it would have to be dressing, stuffing comes from inside the bird and that's just not appetizing.
