@PhilaLady1 - I grew up in Georgia, and it was always dressing. But my Pennsylvania/Delaware grandmother also said dressing. My mom's whole family called it that.

DH's family has always said "stuffing." They're in northwestern Pennsylvania.

I'm from N. Arkansas and I've always called it dressing if it's baked in a pan. Stuffing if it's inside the turkey. We only stuff the turkey to add flavor, we didn't eat it. We just make a pan of dressing to go with it.

Stuffing! I put it in the bird.🦃 To me, dressing is the one you make outside of the bird. I like that one too!😅

I'm in NW Ohio and it has always been called dressing.  Onions browned in lots and lots of butter, s/p, milk, sturdy bread and baked.  YUM.

   If you stuff the inside of the Turkey & cook it that was it is called Stuffing.

 I prefer it baked in a separate  casserole dish and I call it dressing .

 That's how my GrandMother explained it to me  when I first learned to  help with meal preparation

DH and I grew up in the same area of northern NJ, his mother said stuffing and mine said dressing.  So now I use both.

I call it stuffing.  My husband always calls it dressing.  Everytime he asks me to pass the dressing....I have to think twice.  And pass it on to him.

Definitely Dressing for me and my family, but I like stuffing as well.

My DM made the best dressing in the world.  Really did....I tried to duplicate it with her while she was with us, but the "just a pinch of this, tad of that", did not work for me LOL.  Needless to say, I don't even try to make dressing.
