Our neighbors invited us to their place for Thanksgiving dinner. Our children are all out of state, so it was kind of them to do so. I believe it's the first Thanksgiving, since going to my mom's over 30 years ago, that I've not cooked and hosted. I am so out of sorts. I baked three pies yesterday and now feel I should be in the kitchen working and setting the table. I think I make a much better hostess than a guest. Trying to relax and look forward to it, but it's hard.

It's awkward because it's different.
Your neighbors are very thoughtful, enjoy your day.
Maybe you can return the favor in some way in the future. Not that it's required but it would be a nice gesture.

Today I was thinking while I was cooking up a storm,"it would
sure be nice if someone else would cook dinner", then I would probably won't be as good then I'd be bummed.11-24-2016 08:14 PM
Enjoy the time with your gracious hosts!
Post back and let us know how it went.

@software. I have had them for dinner and brunch on multiple occasions. It turned out lovely as I had known it would, but I wanted go get up and fix and do. LOL

GIRL WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU???? LOL!!!! (Just kidding!).
I was thinking today how much I missed my big family gatherings of the past and then how WONDERFUL it is not to be sweating and slinging food in the kitchen. It was my mom's kitchen, so of course I brought a lot of food from "afar" (like the Wise Men! Ha ha!) and had to work in HER kitchen at HER direction (I would have made the sides the day before but NO had to do it on the DAY).
I would be so frazzeled by the time we got finished (3:30--we started at 8:00 a.m.) that I was just worn out. Yes, it was fun and family, but boy was it a lot of work. It was ALWAYS at mother's house.
