Warning Christmas in July post..........

I was just wondering based on last year's slightly disappointing selection of holiday decor and other holiday items, what people here are expecting for this year's offerings.

First, I expect everything will be expensive. Prices are going nowhere but up. But that would be ok with me as long as the products are well made and spark an interest.

I look for the selection to be minimal. I expect the quantity of most offerings to be low. My biggest wondering is if they are going to get one of the candy companies to bring back the super nice candy tins they offered in years past (from either Russell Stover or Harry London). I used those for so many gifts in years past and I really missed them last year.

There has been such a huge move to food on the channel, and I expect that to be a lot of the holiday offerings this coming year. Most of the food is USA sourced, and it seems one category of product they can get in and devote a lot of air time too, while other products are harder to secure.

I'm hoping at least some vendors will be back in studio by then too. I'm really tired of the poor video quality from people's homes, and the lack of being able to see in HD, every color/version of each offering, while they resort to showing us a blurry picture online that we could look up ourselves. I really want to see the products up close and personal in HD, and every offering in the item (as far as color etc.)

And for those that will just complain about CIJ, and even mentioning it at this time of year, remember, we are posting this in a forum set up for exactly that, to discuss any holiday topic, at any time of the year.

HO HO HO!!!!

@Mominohio    I hope the tins come back too!   I have a small collection that I have used for gifting as well.   Nice little keepsakes.....

@Mominohio  I agree there will probably be more food offerings this year because of logistics. I'm hoping vendors will be onsite and will have samples of each color/style to show us. I'll definitely be tuning in as much as I can, but not sure how much I'll be buying. Probably some candles and maybe a lantern or two. I bought Valerie's illuminated barn in January as a future Christmas gift, and I might complete the collection for my daughter's MIL. I watched some of the videos from the Atlanta Market Christmas show in January, and was slightly underwhelmed.

I expect lots of glitter, food and overpriced goods. I'm going to start decorating earlier this year because last year we were having lots of work done around our house and really didn't do much. This year the tree goes up in early November. I'm not looking to buy anything anyway.

I'm assuming more expensive and less selection.

The days after Christmas 2021, I went to Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Macy's and got a lot of nice, quality decorations for 50 to 75 percent off.  I'm set for a few years.  Can't wait to decorate this year with my new finds.

CIJ were the only Q shows I watched on air, I still look forward to the event but now I just shop the website. Last year I bought 4 of the Valerie tin sledding snowman & 3 sets of the tree, stocking & snowman melamine trays...all on clearance w/ FS. I still miss Jill, all of my favorite Christmas decor came from her shows...now I shop Dollar Tree, Dollar General & Cracker Barrel...the 99 cent ornaments from CB are so well done, can't resist them.

@Mominohio , I think you've probably made an accurate prediction of what CIJ holds in store for us.  After the disappointment with VPH wreaths missing delivery dates last year, I will probably try a different vendor this year.  While I enjoy seeing the offerings of  decorative items, an item will have to be extra special to cause me to actually buy it, especially at the increased prices.

Re: Warning Christmas in July post..........

@Mominohio  Never too early for me to think about QVC's Christmas in July, which probably will start on the 26th or 27th of June weekend.

This past Christmas I ordered the Lindt truffles, Alberti's Landie's coated pretzles, Germack's mini and regular jars, and was happy with all of these items.

For this Easter I went directly to the Lindt and Russel Stover websites to order candy and started a membership on each to get the perks they offer.  I was able to customize my selections.

From QVC I ordered the Mary Meyer Paige Sheep and Sage Bunny Bundle and was quite happy with it for the baskets of the two youngest grands.

I miss the nice candy tins you referenced as well.  Assuredly, prices will be higher but I am sure I will find at least a few decorative items to purchase and maybe some food items.

I will probably be a more conscientious price comparison shopper and free shipping and significant cash back incentives, such as via Rakuten, will also entice me--here and  elsewhere.

Right this moment I have the Easter baskets for my five granchildren almost completed and am having a lot of fun doing so.

Next up is figuring some nice side dishes I can prepare to bring to my daughter's home for the Easter Sunday feast.

Glad you initiated such a great topic in the most appropriate place to post it.

Best,
