The Christmas Haul Out/Transfer Begins

Well, I bought my shed for the purpose of storing holiday decor. I want it easily accessible and sorted so I can take it out and use it.

I needed to get into my garage, but was dreading it! All of the Christmas boxes are at the front of the garage. I decided I could not put it off any longer and started hauling out the stuff.

After looking in some of the boxes, I had forgotten what I had! My goal is to get it out and put it in the shed. What a mess!

At least it is not 100 degrees out. My time to do it is now! Anyone else digging out your decorations? I found my two outside deer that have not seen the light of day for years!

Re: The Christmas Haul Out/Transfer Begins

Started today as well. Thought I'd have dh help with a few heavy items before he has to go back to work. So, the tree is up and decorated and I've started on the mantle. I bought so many new things this year (ugh!) and was anxious to get going. Yes, and I've found some goodies that I'd forgotten about. Every year I say the same thing "write down what you have as you pack it away in January". Every year, it doesn't happen. Smiley Sad

I started today too.

I'm keeping what I love, and items I'm not sure of .  If I don't like it, donate.  And I filled the garbage can with broken too.

I always throw out broken not matter how long I have owned it  or how special.

Yes, we will bring up the decorations on Sunday the 27th.  Our two trees are up and decorated so it's the other decorations we have to put out.

When I put up the tree 🌲 this afternoon, it occurred to me that I got this tree from QVC back in 2002. I remember because I bought it for my mom, because she could no longer put on lights. It still looks good, and I only replaced on string of lights in all this time. I don't know the manufacturer, because the box is long gone, but it was a good purchase.

Re: The Christmas Haul Out/Transfer Begins

When we were coming home from our first FL condo use, I decided to use my iPad to record each room's contents and especially my clothes closet, makeup table drawers and the bathroom medicine closets.

Why not use something similar to record your holiday trimmings so you don't forget and buy it again or something similar ?  Writing takes too much time and effort so I don't do it that way.       Shortcuts work !

Most of the way done today.

got side tracked this year, learning to take and post pictures, so I am running behind what I wanted to be, but still will be done by tomorrow.

Re: The Christmas Haul Out/Transfer Begins

I've got both trees up.  One is almost done decorating it, the other I will probably get decorated tomorrow.

I pulled out all the boxes and have already sorted out what I want to keep and moved those to my living room which is currently in full disaster mode!  A young family recently moved in a few houses down from my daughter and they are really starting from scratch after losing much of their belongings in a fire.  I gave her first pick of everything I'm getting rid of.  They took my old flocked tree today and will be back for a few boxes of decorations tomorrow.  They have a 3 year old who was so excited looking at the stuff that I couldn't help but smile ear to ear.  Not having to buy a tree or decorations leaves them more money to Christmas shop for that little sweetie.

I want to have all the stuff I no longer want completely gone before it's time to take my decorations down so I can put it away neatly and more organized

Re: The Christmas Haul Out/Transfer Begins

I don't have a garage so most of my decorations are in a shed in plastic bins.  I brought a few into the house but it has been raining buckets so that is hindering my progress!
