I looked on Etsy for some raffia or similar ribbon for my Thanksgiving table.

I found some I liked, put it in my basket and went to check out.

Shipping was a WHOPPIN' $35.00!!!

It was coming from Europe.  They can keep it!

I emptied my cart and found an alternative!

WOW!  Just WOW!

Have you tried a local florist or a floral supply store?  Also, I just looked at the website for Michael's and Hobby Lobby and both places have raffia in different package sizes for $5 to $10 !   Good luck!

@Big Joanie it is fun to walk through Hobby Lobby! Not that I need anything. I feel the same way about bookstores - fun to browse.

I saw the same thing! I love Etsy for ribbon and decorations. Year I think I paid $15 for a superior roll of ribbon. This year it's in the $30-$40 range per roll. I'll pass!

@ECBG   I put several $3.00 items in my etsy cart and the mailing was $45.00, from the US.  I sent a message to the seller that there was something very wrong with the postage calculation, eventually it was $14.00.

@mousiegirl, My problem is once they try to pull something like that then I don't trust them with my credit card. I have noticed this sort of thing on ebay and amazon lately.

@tiny 2   It is always a leap of faith.  I don't pay shipping on amazon, and have my limit on what I am willing to pay for mailing, being an avid shopper, lol, I know what it should cost to mail something, and always look for free shipping, or minimal.  Some sellers charge more for mailing than the item costs which is ridiculous...
