I would say it's pretty traditional. The family usually travels to my mother's house where my sisters and I prepare the meal. One sister does the main meat which is usually a turkey or possibly ham. The rest of us supply other things. Mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, potato salad, rolls, corn or lima beans, relish tray, etc. My speciality is usually broccoli caulflower salad and I try to come up with a couple of other different things. Last year it was cumcumber salad, and a corn casserole -- which had mixed reviews!!!
One year, we had lasagne instead of turkey. It was kind of nice to have something different. Another year we had stuffed porkchops.
Then, of course, we have an arrary of pies - usually pumpkin, cherry, peach, etc. And some cookies -- chocolate chip, sugar, etc. And usually a pumpkin roll.
As my mom says -- if you go home hungry, it's your own darn fault!!!!

This year we are going to have TG at my daughter's house. She decided she wanted to have it. It will be traditional. Everyone brings something so that all the burden is not on her.
I remember years ago when my MIL invited us to TG at her house. My kids were little. My son was so mad when we got there and saw she was having chili. He loved turkey and hated chili. I had to whisper to him to act nice and I would fix turkey at home that same week. He didn't cry but he almost did. Keep in mind he wasn't very old. LOL
.............funny story. Weird mil. That's why when we do go to someone's home for thanksgiving dinner, I always have a dinner ready for us at home. Just in case....

Family was just together the other night and we all decided to go out for Thanksgiving this year, so that is very non traditional for us. We are going to a seafood restaurant, don't know what they will have on the menu.

The part bolded and enlarged by me is an understatement like you can't believe. LOL

Traditional and very basic for us. The only twist this year is that I'm thinking of baking some breaded chicken breasts from Schwans "livesmart" selections. I personally would rather have a chicken breast with my mashed potatoes and green bean casserole, but I hate to break with tradition.
