Thanks everybody.  I hope whoever posted the original Pinterest idea will see this...it was so nice of them to take the time to pass it along. I am not the creative type who looks at raw materials and gets an idea but I can copy lol.

My SIL has always wrapped her gifts in brown wrapping paper then embellished them with various themes. Much better than holiday wrap . . . and she's always prepared for any event of the year!

She thought of it over 50 years ago and uses twine for the "ribbon" by making all kinds of different ties, bows, and simple wraps around the packages. Clever.

Someone on Facebook did this. The bottom of the snowman was a toy, the middle contained clothing and the top had a favorite snack treat. She had a belt on the snowman and his buckle was a gift card. The intent was not to give so many gifts and to keep the cost down. She had four snowmen under the tree for her four kids.
