Re: So the decorating shows are over already?

[ Edited ]

@RazorSharp

Valerie's show was replayed yesterday 11/18 during the early afternoon.

I am really into home decor stuff right now. This would be a natural time of year for me to really get into this stuff.

Re: So the decorating shows are over already?

I'm still transitioning from Halloween to Thanksgiving.

I'll start Christmas a week or so into December.

Re: So the decorating shows are over already?

I can understand QVC stopping the decorating shows in mid November, if you consider the 7 to 10 business days shipping time (especially since QVC uses USPS rather than UPS these days)...if they expanded the shows until December 1---they wouldn't arrive until mid December which would be too late (since most people decorate the day after Thanksgiving or earlier these days)........HOWEVER, I think they should not only have Valerie and her shows, but a few more decor shows in different styles.......(QVC seems to be ignoring this  suggestion which seems to be popular with the home decor fans, but if they want to perk up their sales---which were down again in the 3rd Quarter....perhaps QVC would benefit from our feedback!!!

It seems that the decorating season was much shorter this year than in prior years. When you think about the decorating shows that were also gift shows then it was greatly reduced. Many of us use some of these items (window candles, candle rings,lanterns etc.) all year round so I don't see why those items could not be presented for more months.  Home decor items such as towels and sheets are always selling in the local retail stores. I wish QVC would expand these items and this category.  It's always the same thing repeated with an added color.  The number of "new" items has greatly diminished in the last few years.

@Fressa

I agree---what is odd in their latest financial report (3rd Quarter) the home line did well in sales....while beauty and electronics were down ......but instead of giving us more decor, they give less....go figure!!!!  And I agree I'm so tired of QVC adding a new color and calling the item "NEW"----just a color was NEW QVC, NOT the item!!!!  They just cant seem to figure this out Woman Frustrated  QVC has become stale in all lines these days....so I watch and buy less and explore more local options.

I had forgotten about Big Lots, Tuesday Morning, and Stein Mart......even Home Depot had some cute things.....why even WALGREENS had some nice Christmas decor pieces.....!!!!!  Then there are the usual---Hobby Lobby, Home Goods, Michaels, Marshalls----Target, and even Walmart.....these stores come out with something different and interesting....meanwhile QVC seems to roll out the same things or same styles in different colors Woman Sad

Yep especially here in Texas regarding real trees....even though you cut the bottom off the tree, watered it regularly, and used special stuff that was supposed to keep it "fresh"....we held our breath to hope it lasted until Christmas......Funny story, my friend's stepmom still buys a real tree.  She lives in one of the Texas coastal towns....one year it was particualy warm and her real tree "died", right before Christmas she had throw the dried out tree away and purchase a new one and decorate a tree all over again....

I think people are decorating earlier and ealier....perhaps people are more into decorating than in the past (especially outdoor decorating which appears to be more and more competitive)  In the past people put a wreath on the door and the more adventerous would string some lights along part of their roof line....But now---oh wow---the inflatables and all kinds of lawn decor they make a Christmas Wonderland!!! Which then inspires indoor decorating too.......Yes its sad because the autumn fall decorating season has been cut short, or done minimally these days.....But I guess there are a lot of people that get into the Christmas spirit---Christmas is their favorite holiday so they expand it (and I'll raise my hand as one of those).......

And you have to remember us folks in the warmer climates (Texas here), the decorations are the only things that help create the Christmas season for us....We might have cooler weather (hopefully), but we can't look out our windows and see the beautiful gentle snowflakes falling, and have our lawns covered in fluffy snow and a homemade snowman too boot....nope, we have to rely on surrounding ourself with a beautifully decorated tree and lights and other accents inside and out!

And @Mominohio is right---if you want QVC Christmas/Holiday decor you have to shop CIJ and CIA, CIS, forget Halloween/fall---Christmas in October or BLINK---you will miss QVC's offerings....

@Mominohio You are right, it's now all about the gifting now.  Just this morning I saw a long presentation featuring the always hoped for gift of something to clean the shower stall, etc.  The other day the gift was the dusting brushes, need I go on lol.  So many wonderful things to put under the tree.

@chlema

I love a practical gift, and don't mind them getting their time, but Valerie was there today and Carolyn mentioned Valerie would not be back on air until after the first of the year.

Remember when she had gift items like candle sets and other things that they had her present in gift shows much later in this season? She has a number of things that would make great gifts (she has a pretty throw too). I just don't  understand why they cut her off so early. I know the home holiday decor selling would be at a minimum from here on out, but Valerie has jewelry and other gift type items, and I'm sure there are some people who gift holiday decor as well.

I wish Q would read these forums more closely and hear what we are saying. They really missed the mark with Christmas home decor this year, in both their choices of merchandise and the lack of shows featuring it.

Oh mercy, it is a long time till Christmas in July!

Re: So the decorating shows are over already?

I wish they would do some home decorating trial shows later in the season, just to see how sales would be.

Speaking for myself, once I really get into buying mode for gifting, I always find lots of things I want for myself.  LOL.

Re: So the decorating shows are over already?

Well come on now, they had to make yet more time to present the same ten 'host favorite gifts', along with scheduling even more of all those other fully exciting generic gift programs...
