Slatkin or Nest Candles?

I am looking for your ideas on candles! It's between Slatkin and Nest. I have not tried either. What are your suggestions?

I have some Slatkin 4 wick candles. I like them. They have a nice smell and burn evenly.

Try Aldi's - no kidding ! Their vanilla 3 wick is less than $5 and smells wonderful. I buy one or two with every curbside order.

I know someone who uses candles that have a wood center and makes an interesting sound. They are a single wick. Might be called 'Woodwick?'

They smell good too.

Didn't know Nest had a candle line - w/perfume. If I'm correct Stakin & Nest have been married for years - so would assume Harry - the candle king - is involved with her line.

I only tried Slatkin.

Everyone raves about them, they are beautiful, but fragrances are such a personal preference that for me it's difficult to choose when there are 4 or 5 different scents blended into one.

The last Slatkin I hoped would smell like evergreens or pine, but had 4 other fragrances added. I didn't like this very sweet smelling blend at all that was less pine than other fragrances.

I didn't return, but I won't use them.

So, I'm sticking to single fragrance candles. My favorites are pine, hollyberry, and bayberry, for Christmas.

I've used lots of Slatkin, still have some I'm using up from years ago, fragrance still strong. Loved his fragrances. But, though I followed all the "wiping down of the wick, covering it to put the flame out", as he advices, to "get a clean burn"...they still develop soot on the sides of the jars as they burned. So, if they're sooty there, they are sooty in my air too.

I use mostly flameless candles now after painting two years ago...trying to keep soot out now...it did develop on my walls in the past. Using up some I still had either out on the deck or in the kitchen that hasn't yet been done over.

Someone mentioned Woodwick...back in the day, Old Virginia Candle, (THEY burned CLEAN...still miss that brand), used to have a line of Woodwick. I don't know if another company bought just that line but there are still Woodwick candles out there, and I've used them. Nice crackling, just like you have a fireplace burning. I got some pretty ones (before the paint job) that were elongated glass jars with 3 wicks, very nice...but they do get sooty also.

@Suzy Q from PA those Aldi ones sound nice.

I like a nice pine too. They are hard to find.

So, we were up at our casino today and I went into Yankee Candle; as I said, I don't burn candles much anymore, I do burn the tarts instead, hoping that doesn't bring out as much soot.

Anyway, I saw the Woodwick candles there...same ones I bought years ago, in the same elongated glass jars, three wick. They had single wick also.

For those that said they just want pine fragrance...I wanted that type fragrance also, for Christmas, since my tree is artificial.

In the Woodwick brand I bought wax melts for my tart warmers in "Frasier Fir." They are so nice and smell just like you are walking through a Christmas tree farm, to me. You all, that are looking for that real Christmas tree, or holiday fragrance, might like those.

Maybe you can find them online, but definitely through Yankee Candle. And they were 20 or 30% off, (I forget exactly), and all the rest of YC items were 40% off. So, if you are near a store, or else maybe online, you might want to check it out. Also, if you prefer those crackling wood candles...they also came in Frasier Fir.

I may have to break down just for Christmas and get one of those. I have bought other "greenery" smelling candles each year for Christmas...I think this is the most authentic of Christmas tree scents I've had. Just fyi. 🎄🙂
