Reply from Bethlehem Lights re Ruined Wreath

I contacted Bethlehem Lights regarding the beautiful white pre-lit wreath that was a TSV back in July 2020.  It looked so pretty last year, but when I took it out of the closet yesterday to hang up, the white wreath was now the color of hay (or straw).  I am sorry to say that Bethlehem Lights admitted they've received this same complaint but really have no recourse as the warranty is a "limited warranty" of just 30 days.  I explained that having a 30 day warranty on a holiday item purchased in July is kind of silly.  The fellow I spoke with didn't explain a correct way to store the wreath and even agreed that storing it in the plastic wrap that it came in would likely make sense -- but it doesn't.  I told the fellow that I was sorry I spent $60 for a fake wreath that would only last one season and stated that I would be posting a synopsis of our conversation on this forum.  I also stated that I will never, ever purchase anything else from Bethlehem Lights.  Money down the drain.

I wonder if QVC would step up and make things right.

@BarbiHollywood   I am so sorry that this happened.

I just looked at  reviews and there are several complaints about the same thing.  Clearly, this was made to be defective.

You might try to buy a spray can a flocking material.  It is usually available in craft stores and Lowes or Home Depor around this time of the year.

This should make your wreath usable and white.  The flocking material won't ruin the lights like a spray paint would.  Perhaps you can salvage the wreath to use again.

Do they still sell the exact same wreath?

I'm sorry this has happened to you.  I had nothing but problems with both Bethlehem Lights and Santa's Best from QVC.  Lots of $$$$ spent on those items.  Nearly $700 on a tree that lasted 2 years, though the second year of putting it up all the lights didn't work correctly.  I want buy them anymore.  I've gotten much nicer and at a much lower price point from Home Depot.

Sorry that you had that experience with both the wreath and the representative from BL.  I have not bought anything from BL for several years. The few items I purchased were nice and still in decent to good condition.

@BarbiHollywood  Wow! That really stinks! I would think BL would want to make it right, since they are such a big part of QVC decor sales. I don't think I would let it drop. Contact CS at QVC again and tell them what BL told you. If they can't help you, at least leave a product review on the QVC website.  I've had such a good experience with BL in the past, I'm disheartened about your experience.

Flocked trees always have discolored for me, but once I put on the mini lights, I was satisfied. Now my artificial trees are green. I guess if it was a defect, they should have offered you a new one.

Re: Reply from Bethlehem Lights re Ruined Wreath

I posted here about my Lighted Bethlehem tree. I loved the tree but the lights only worked one year.

It took me hours to remove all the light strings. My arms were very scratched.

I still have and use the tree, I just string my own lights. I wasn’t getting rid of it, paid almost $300

Hopefully you can salvage your wreath

I've never had good luck with BL items.  I stopped ordering anything from that brand several years ago.  I'm sorry you had such bad luck with your wreath.  I would probably tape off the lights and spray paint it some interesting color.

I had good luck with a BL wreath, a green one with multi lights that twinkled and a timer feature. It worked fine through 8 Christmases.  Noticed last year that about a third of the lights were burned out, so I tossed it. Thing is, it wasn't a flocked wreath. I have a 4' flocked tree from QVC (not a BL tree) purchased in 2003. Yep, 18 years old. Lights up beautifully, but the white flocking has all but disappeared possibly because I store the tree in attic where it gets very hot in summer (no basements here in South).  The attached pine cones and berries are still in great shape....it's just a green tree now instead of a white one. I remember paying $69 for it.
