We have solved the problem by having many of our favorite holiday movies on DVD that we have collected over the years and we'll watch a few each night. Some of them we've seen several times already over the past couple of weeks...like White Christmas, Holiday Inn, etc.

Our absolute favorite is...'It happened on 5th Avenue'  Smiley Very Happy

I looked into buying "Holiday Inn" and noticed there's a 3-disk collector's edition that includes a colorized version.  I'd love to see some of those 40's gowns in color!  This may be an after-Christmas gift to myself. Smiley Happy

I've never seen "The Bishop's Wife" and have to keep my eye open for that one...

I'm not sure if it was TCM or AMC but between those channels I've seen White Christmas, Miracle on 34th St., Holiday Affair, Christmas in Connecticut.  They've been showing them at noon on Sundays.  Prancer has been on a number of times although I don't remember if it was one of the classic channels, ABC Family or Hallmark.   Christmas with the Kranks has also been on a number of times on TCM or AMC as has Scrooged and Scrooge.

I watched "White Christmas" and "Miracle On 34th St." (original version)  a couple days ago on AMC.  WC started close to midnight, IIRC.

The Bishop's Wife is my ALL TIME very favorite Christmas movie.

TMC owns it, or used to own it.

It has a fabulous musical score, Cary Grant, Loretta Young, David Niven, Elsa Lancaster, a whole lot of other very underrated Hollywood favorites, a harp, rich vs poor., a morally wholesome happy ending.

It is NOT swat you in the face ribbonhollycandycane singing dancing, but it IS a heart warmer and cozy show piece.

Didn't look at the schedule, but sometimes they show it just once on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.

Don't miss the very beginning. The music really sets up the plot.

The Bishops Wife is my favorite Christmas movie also. I need to watch it every year, but on TCM as there are no commercials. I do have the DVD for backup just in case. LOL.

I agree about TCM. This year I purchased three of the classics on DVD, with coupons price was not that bad. I have also noticed several of the classics are on demand for about $2.99. Refuse to pay when I'm already paying more then enough for cable service!

@denisemb  -- I DO have a handy copy of that movie and did watch it the other day!!! The colorized version is GREAT- and that is one reason I enjoy this movie is seeing all those 40's fashions in full color! Woman Very Happy

Re: REALLY TCM????? WHERE ARE YOU CLASSIC HOLIDAY MOVIES!!!

I have my favorite Christmas movies and TV shows on DVDs. I don't have to wait for TCM or any other channel to broadcast them. Sometimes I think TCM doesn't really show that many classics. I love old movies from the 40s - 60s. Sometimes I have to remember that a classic movie to my generation can be very different from what someone younger thinks is a classic movie.
