Question For Starry Night Hurricane Owners

I just received the black Starry Night hurricanes I ordered for my DIL. How the heck do I open the shiny battery boxes? I don't want to break them, but they are not budging for me.

Pull up on the little lever or "tab" on the side that opens.  That should pop open the battery door.  Some may be harder to open than others and you may need a small screwdriver to get under the lever/tab.

Re: Question For Starry Night Hurricane Owners

That I cannot help you with because I didn't purchase them. I was discouraged by the negative reviews that came in last year right after they were introduced as the TSV. The issues with the battery box, and batteries not lasting were the biggest complaint. One would think that Ms. Parr-Hill would have replaced the problematic boxes by now. She certainly uses a lot of Chinese imports and cheap fabrication, and her items are rather pricey. Like many other vendors, a lot of her reviews have become rather lukewarm.

@geezerette  Thanks! It worked using a little screwdriver! I thought I was an expert after all this time, but those slippery boxes did me in! Hahaha!

I purchased the silver mercury glass hurricanes and they are amazingly beautiful! I'm mesmerized!

Yes, I used a metal makeup spatula to open the first silver battery box. The second opened easily.

I always need to remember that the door slides TOWARD the wire to open.

'Enjoy!

Re: Question For Starry Night Hurricane Owners

Love my Starry Night hurricanes! Purchased the burgundy (red) set last year and received the green ones last week. All work great. Love the twinkling lights affect when the lights are dimmed. And you are right. On one of the battery boxes, the lid was hard to remove. Nothing that a strong fingernail could not open.

Re: Question For Starry Night Hurricane Owners

If you don't have a tiny screwdriver to open the battery box, I found that the tip of a nail file  handle will work. (plastic works best because it's a bit thicker)
