How we decorate says a lot about ourselves...similar to how we dress. It represents the image we are projecting to others. It's what others see when they meet us and what they think of us.
Black can be sophisticated, dramatic, stunning, but there is a dark side to black, depressing, death, evil, Satan, to name a few, so for what is supposed to be a happy, joyous holiday, black, to me, in this case is sinister. It represents everything that is depressing, wrong.
I wonder what is going on with this person that they would want a black tree.
