OTHER ALLURING BIRDS

[ Edited ]

My problem is, I'm insane about birds period, in addition to Valerie's adorable chubby ceramic birds.  And I've become so good at purging and donating, but...

These that I've seen on Amazon are also available in a gift shop only about a mile from me-- they are tempting too, with their plump contentment and little scrolled wings:

Aren't they cute?  They come in ivory too:

And as one who LOVES vintage pottery, this stoneware quail from Red Wing Pottery's old "Bob White" pattern is so tempting.  It's in that pheasant/partridge category which I love, and the blue/brown/creamy coloration is right up my alley.  It was quaintly called an "hors d'oevre server".  It has tiny holes in the back, into which you would have inserted toothpicks with little cheese squares, etc. on them:

The little ones are salt and pepper shakers.  Aren't they cute?

The "Bob White" pattern is adorable, with birds even on the teapot:

Oh, yes, birds are my downfall...

ETA--  Oh, I forgot to "confess", I do own Valerie's pair of patchwork quilt birds from a few years back. I was shocked to see they are also offered on Amazon-- I didn't realize any of her things were merchandised there.  They are charmingly chunky too and have pretty colors.  So I really don't NEED birds...

I like to use birds in my decor, too.  I use Lenox Chirp pattern as my everyday dishware.  I have some bird vases and some decorative birds here and there throughout the house.  Here's one set of little cuties that I have out right now.

Oh, they are precious, @Marsha2003!  I like their color too.

I've heard of Lenox's "Chirp".   Now I'll have to look it up.  What a cute name for a bird pattern.

Here's Chirp @Oznell so you don't have to look it up.  :-)

Thank you, @Marsha2003,  my curiosity made me look it up already!  But I did not see the grouping of the place setting all together like in your photo.  I love that design, with the delicate bird, and the fact that it varies from piece to piece is so beguiling-- you don't get the exact same design with each item, so it's never boring.  The colors are beautiful too.

You have a gorgeous pattern.

@Oznell

Have you seen the Lenox Butterfly Meadow Flutter design. I love this one as well as Chirp.

Both your examples are lovely, @Bird mama and @froggy!  Thank you for adding to my bird-mania...

@Oznell   A few years ago, I bought a ton of birds at zulily, and keep my eye out for them, though I really have enough.  I put them out for each season, depending on the color, have all colors and they look realistic.

I have metal quail in the garden and some figurines.  Years ago, my gardens were loaded with quail and their babies, took tons of pictures.  There isn't much cover for them any longer, and traveling cats come here so am glad they do not any longer for that reason.  I would be working in the garden and hear them marching along, mom, babies, and dad at the rear.  Dad would be the look-out while the others were feeding.

Like you, I also love the chubby birds.  There are some tiny birds who take dust baths in the webber grill piece that catches the charcoal dust, and of course, I have nesters all over as I can hear the babies and see the parents coming in with food.

Love your bird stories, @mousiegirl.  How lucky you were to have had quail, even for a while.  They are so adorable in their little family formations, etc.

Glad there's another member of the plump birds club!  They just look so cute and satisfied with themselves, don't they?  I don't have anything amounting to a collection, like you do, but right now I have Valerie's patchwork ones out, just to satisfy my 'bird urge'.  They are really more fall birds with their autumnal colors, but cute.  I do have a few owls which I like, but not as much as the chunky birds...
