I have the acrylic finials from the first year, and two sets from last year. I love them for many reasons, including when they are unlit, as well as the nice 'twinkle' of light when lit. They show their colors well when lit, and are just so elegant.
So I had to try the brown ones offered this year.
Well, I had to know the good had to end somewhere. No more light movement in these new ones, and I could have lived with that. But when lit, the color essentially disappears and they are basically a bright white.
There is no elegance or ambiance when they are lit. They look like some neon sign or some wand to use while landing aircraft in the field.
Unlit they are not bad, but for $50 they are going to have to look good lit as well. I have them running tonight to see if I can come to grips with them, but I'm suggesting others not waste the money on these this time around (and many of you know how much I raved about them last year).
I'm wondering if mine might be defective, like the right amount of glitter wasn't applied inside, to cause the light to shine through so white and bright (I mean there is virtually no brown tones when lit, but is brown when unlit)
Anyone else get these latest acrylic finials and have the same experience, especially if you have the older ones to compare them to?

@Mominohio Sorry to hear the chocolate finials don't look good lit. I would be returning them too. Sometimes it's hard to believe that the VPH team doesn't seem to preview them before ordering thousands for QVC...SMH. I still don't understand why they didn't upgrade the finials so there were options of both steady on and pulsating light instead of being just steady on.
I am more relieved now that I didn't need any of the finials and got all I need plus spares from last years better version. Thanks for posting the info!

@Mominohio I did, red and chocolate, so I will post when I receive them.

Oh great! Can't wait to hear what yours are like.
I had the red ones delivered last year by mistake (I had ordered as is champagne) and they were stunning. Dorothy's ruby slippers couldn't begin to be so vibrant.
I sent them back, but really wanted to keep them. I just didn't have any place for them in the one room I do with red.
Do you have the older ones to compare them to?
Can't wait to hear what you find with yours.

How disappointing, @Mominohio! I didn't order any finials, but I'm sorry that yours didn't meet your expectations.

@Mominohio I have a set of the frost from last year. The fact that they don't pulsate doesn't bother me, but if they are washed out as you say, that would, so will see what I think.

I'm wondering if it's just the blah look that brown takes on when lit from within. What a letdown that you're not happy with them. ETA--after re-reading your post about how they look bright white with no color, my idea is probably not the reason...
I didn't order any new ones, and I only have one champagne set from last year. I wasn't crazy about the light color they emitted or the pulsating light pattern, but to put it into context, they were displayed in a room with Luminaras and a tree with incandescent multi lights, so they were the only thing lit by LEDs.

You know, I guess it was because I was expecting 'blah' with the brown. I expected it to be dark and muted, and expected I'd dislike it because it was too muted and gave off very little light.
I was so taken back by the brightness of these. Totally the opposite of what I expected and what I thought I wanted.
I set them up last night and spent a lot of time just staring at them. I'm trying to see if they have value in my decor, even though they aren't what I was picturing in my mind. I'm trying to decide if there is any brown/tan look with them when lit.
What I have determined is that they are very pretty unlit, very dark and elegant. When lit in a totally dark room, while not what I expected, are nice, but not thrilling. It seems that when you have them lit with other lighting (like lamps) in the same room the real 'washed out' appearance becomes the problem. I am going to play with them after dark again tonight to get some better idea of exactly how I feel.
The true deal breaker will be the matching spheres. They are designed the same, and on air, they seemed to be very dark when lit. If that is indeed the case, I don't think they will look like they 'match' with these finials.
Problem is that those spheres are an advanced order and won't ship for about a week yet, I think. So I guess I will just have to wait for them to arrive, and see what the whole package looks like together.

I ordered the chocolate finials and are scheduled to be delivered today. I was so looking forward to getting them and put them in a few places to see where I liked them the best. I will post when I get them. Like someone stated for $50 I would like them to look good lit and unlit. I also ordered the spheres in chocolate & the two different blues as I really wanted the aqua color ones but it wasn't coinciding with what Valerie said on air so I purchased both just to make sure I get the aqua color.

@Mominohio, I understand what you're describing. Best to wait for the spheres and also for opinions on whether or not others who receive chocolate find them to be too bright and/or washed out.
I misspoke when I said I had no other LEDs in that room. I meant bright white LEDs, because all of the candles have yellow LEDs. I need more coffee!
