@itsmetoo OK. Those are really pretty! They look professionally done! Did you have to buy yardage of material, or were you able to find remmnants? Are the stems completely preserved, or do you think you have to do something else to them?

@PA Mom-mom

I don't think you could go with remnants unless it was a good size piece.  I found 1/2 of a yard worked best.  You can make several with that much material, depending on the size of pumpkins because most of the material was 60".  But I wouldn't buy less than the 1/2 yard (18") or your pumpkins will be pretty small.  I made that mistake with the gold color.  I didn't do anything with the stems other than dry them out.  I used stems from my pumpkins last year so they dried out over the course of the year.  I have read you can try drying them faster in a low oven (if you have fresh stems) but I don't know how well that works.

@itsmetoo Thanks for the info. I'm going to try this!

Please post pictures if you do!  The hardest part was finding the material.  Hopefully you'll have better luck than I did.

@Mousegirl

I can't find your post now but loved your story about your sewing class and the pin!  lol  The good news is if you make these you won't need to use pins!

They are beautiful!

I don't sew and wanted a few myself.  Last year I purchased some on Etsy.  You could sell some yourself! Smiley Happy

@itsmetoo  Your pumpkins are beautiful.

There are many elements: wind, fire, water
But none quite like the element of surprise

Re: My attempt at making velvet pumpkins

I have to tell you, I'm not that much a fan of velvet pumpkins.

But I think it is because I haven't seen ones done this well!

The colors are unlike what I've seen in stores, simply stunning and so well done.

Make me some! LOL

Velvet pumpkins are more popular than ever. I have seen at least a dozen blog posts on them in the last two weeks.

@KatieB

Thank you! The stems are real stems off of the real pumpkins I bought last year.  I knew I wanted to try making some this year so I saved them.

@Mominohio

Thank you! I am kind of late to the party with the velvet pumpkins myself.  I know they've been around for a few years now but they didn't really catch my eye until last year. It's probably because of all the wonderful ladies here sharing their decor pictures!  I do wish I could make more but only had a limited number of stems.

Thank you, @Regal Bee.  I'm glad to hear they are as popular as ever since I am so late in getting on the velvet pumpkin bandwagon!  I'm hooked now though!
