$100 for an ornament?!  I don't care who she is or that it is a larger ornament, that is just ridiculous and it was on sale for that price!  Goodness be.

@JudyL.  I think they'd be classified as collectibles.  Some people are really into that line, which is always expensive.

Re: MacKenize Childs Ornament

Please don't think that your budget values speak for everybody.

I have happily paid over $100.00 for a Christmas ornament if I thought it was exquisite and something I had to have.

Some of my favorite and most costly brands include:

Gorham/Reed & Barton Sterling Silver

Swarovski Crystal

Waterford

Italian Blown-Glass

Christopher Radko

MacKenzie-Childs is a high quality brand and the items they make are of great materials, and more traditional, not plastic trendy ornaments like Hallmark.

Mouth-blown and hand-painted glass ornaments have only increased in cost, due to their intensive human manufacturing process.

I suppose that is why I also shop at Neiman Marcus--high quality is often a given, although prices will reflect that.

QVC is lucky to have a great brand like MacKenzie-Childs to sell to the public.

If properly cared for, glass and crystal ornaments can last for a very, very long time, and never need to be replaced. They are more than just collectibles--they also become family heirlooms.

@JudyL

They have some pretty things but they do want a lot for their stuff.

I saw a set of 4 enamel plates on the Q for almost $300.00!

Re: MacKenize Childs Ornament

I bought 3 of the MacKenzie Childs Owls from ShopHQ.  They were a bit expensive, but I love the design and they have a lot of character.  I don't regret getting them and will be looking to see if I can add to the "flock".

Re: MacKenize Childs Ornament

Are you talking about a glass ornament? Quality detailed glass ornaments are in that price range and much, much higher. I like Mackenzie-Childs glass ornaments.
