MY TRIP TO HOME GOODS YESTERDAY

[ Edited ]

I havn't been there since last November.  I went in search of holiday picks and branches, and some bottle vases, I call them, colored glass and inexpensive even for very tall.  I bought an amber/orange one for the rec room, a tall red for wherever, my favorite color, and a large Fall hombre colored  glass vase for the house.

I got what I went in for, and noticed that there were quite a lot of items that were there the last two years, and still a lot of the white/gold/ pink, etc. Santas.  Lots of sparkling gold/brass hurricanes and holders s I entered, quite a site.

I even saw a white faux plastic, I think, tree which reminded me of yesteryear, a nostalgic feeling, made me smile.

I found two really nice large Christmas throw pillows, and one sparkly, under lights, silver wire or some coated material, deer.

I bought two varieties of maple syrup as Christmas gifts for DH, and several jams to try.

I may go back once again later on.

Re: MY TRIP TO HOME GOODS YESTERDAY

A brand new Home Goods Store just opened up and Thursday was the grand opening. The store is close to where my son lives. I had to get my grandson off of the school bus and wait with him for his parents to come home from work, so I left early to get there and went into the store.

I am a Home God’s addict and always go into a store whenever, I travel or go past one.  I have been in quite a few of their stores,, but never saw one like this.  The shelves were stocked there was hardly any room to walk.  They had so much stuff.

i only had a few minutes to browse. So, I made a fast pass through the store, but I’ll be back.  I only bought dog treats.  It is worth driving to the new one as opposed to going to the one closest to me.

Marshalls is in the same building and uses the same cashiers.  It is quite a place.

Re: MY TRIP TO HOME GOODS YESTERDAY

@mousiegirl  Did you find any very long picks for your vases and bottles?  I haven't been out anywhere to look all week been 'ill'  and haven't felt like it.  I fear I have missed the buy of a lifetime by not checking around for a week.  lol

I received one of the 'as is' garlands today.  The Glitter Berry in Frosted Snow and it is so pretty and wintry.  Only one berry off in the box so that's a good thing.  The wreath has been at UPS terminal 20 miles from me since Friday and the other garland is still processing.  Go figure.

Glad you enjoyed your shopping trip.  I'll have to make one next week if I can at all.  People are there buying all of the good stuff.  Smiley Happy

@lucymo  It isn't even November yet, lol, so I am sure there is plenty of time to get some goodies.  I went very late last year, the end of November or early December, can't remember, and I found the two large deer that I posted, and a few other things.

Yes, I found four enormous iced berry sprays with thick iced stems.  I had bought some at zulily this week, but cancelled because I realized that I hadn't even seen what Michael's and Home goods had, glad I did cancel.

I had another very long spray in the basket and I had put it in one of the vases, well, the darned thing kept whacking me in the head, messing up my gorgeous hairsprayed hair, not, lol, so finally just put it back, was driving me nuts, lol, and by the time I got to the car, you should have seen my hair, LOL, had to do a quick fix up, can't do much when hairspray is involved.

I then went to get the yearly blood draw as I am having my yearly check up next week, good time to go as it turned out, no one there, so I was in and out quickly.

I then went to the UPS store to get a QVC package, then to Michael's next door where I got a ton, 40% off, and the young guy said, "I don't know your age, but you may be old enough for another discount," so I said, "oh, I am sure I am,"  lol, so he gave me more off, will have to check the receipt to see how much off, but decided I couldn't wait for the 60% off as everything would have been picked over, looked like a lot had been.

I may have to cut some stems, but then I can put them onto other picks that are too short.

Going up and down stairs so many times with items, too heavy to carry too many at once, my legs were killing me last night, and i was so tired, I gave DH leftover spaghetti and told him he would have to grate the parm as I didn't think I could do it, LOL,so tired, right into bed I went once he was fed.  To think that I used to do this several times a week or at least weekly, my age is really showing lately.

I have decided to display my silver deer, etc. in the rec room, and I may just leave them out or some of them, all year.

I bought a few silver items at zulily, metal, for that room, because I couldn't resist them and they wouldn't fit in upstairs, yet anyway.

I have one more section to take pictures of and will then be posting my Fall pictures within a few days or so, finally.

@mousiegirl  Hey, almost November is 'get out there and get it' time unless you live in the city with lots of places to shop.  Smiley Happy  When I lived in the city I could wait for later sales but in our area the stores stock for Christmas early on and don't restock much after that.

I feel for you shopping and lugging packages as I'm not as much a shopper as I used to be.  But, sounds like you had a very productive day and got what you've been needing to finish your vases and other stuff.

I had a vision of you with the branches grabbing at your hair.  With hairspray, once the hair is lifted it won't drop back down, just stands there.  Too funny.

Which silver deer are you planning to use?  I only have one set of mostly silver and they are from Cracker Barrel.  You have those too, I think, unless you returned them.

Good wishes for an excellent check up next week.  I had mine a couple of months ago.  Got my flu shot earlier this month.

@mousiegirl  There's nothing wrong with having new displays somewhere in the home.  We have to use all this 'stuff' somewhere, don't we?  All of the old displays are full.  Smiley Happy  I have new white metal deer this year but haven't made plans for them unless I did and forgot.  I'm nuts too.  Woman Embarassed

Re: MY TRIP TO HOME GOODS YESTERDAY

I think someone mentioned that some Marshalls stores also are Home Goods? I'm not sure, I may be confused about that, but, next week I will check out the Marshalls store when I am in the city. Ha ha, I may not get home till very late, I have many places I want to stop in and browse. Of course HL, Michaels, Pier 1, Marshalls, etc, etc. Wondering if I should just cancel my cancer screening and just shop, lol. Kidding about that, of course.
