Well...******. Now I'm not sure what the heck to do. I've spent hours on these stupid candles and lanterns (up till 2 am and then on the phone with CS at 7 this morning). Yes, I know it's JUST candles. Here's the thing...I've been looking at candles this size for a few years and the same products would cost FAR more than what I can get at QVC.

You all raised some GREAT questions and now I wonder if I should just say *&%^*%*% it and cancel it all.

I would up with the candles I wanted (finally!) 7 candles and 2 sets of Lanterns. The Red large ones are for my hearth at Christmas; they take the 10" so we're good.  I prefer the medium size of the Windsor lantern due to the panes of glass; the larger ones look off to me, plus, I think they'll look better on a table and stairs inside the house.

As for using them alone... I purchased them to use in my fireplace off season (ivory) but thought the red would be great in the fireplace with greens around them, again, in the fireplace. The glow, however, is something I didn't think about as being an issue. I have the tapers that go into the windows and they give off a LOT of light. So much that family members find it difficult to sleep with them on (they go off at 11pm during the holidays. I don't have any THIS size however, that are Luminara. My other larger sizes glow from the middle (which is kinda odd as well). NEW candles would only have the flame at the top, so.....

******.

Oh, CS told me that they had 16,000 to start with and that the back-log of calls to take orders shocked them. They hope there will be a re-order but she said Luminara isn't that great about bringing stuff back quickly.

Edited to add: @lucymo  Do you think the 14 inch would be BETTER than the 10 Inch in that size lantern?

@SahmIam

for what it's worth, I contacted Janine Graff on her FB page and asked if these would be reordered and she said definitely they would. Now whether they can be brought in again remains to be seen, as one can 'order' things that never materialize, but at least there is some hope.

My biggest fear at this point is that I buy all these, and they have a TSV with them 31 days after I receive them !!!!!!

I don't know what happened but trying to order them one by one online was a nightmare. The ones I wanted sold out between the time of putting them in my cart and hitting buy, lol.

I have 1 set of the reds, 1 set of the ivory and then extra of the 10 inch and 14 inch and 1 red 6 inch.

What ticks me off is the vendor gave out wrong info on the sizes of candles that fit into those lanterns as well as what size Lanterns were on display. I'm still trying to get the correct info so I know what the heck to order!!

Grrrrr.....

@SahmIam It was a mad frenzy. I happen to be watching when I saw these. I wanted the 14" huge candle and ordered online right away. I got 4 of the 14" rustic candle (2 in brown and 2 in ivory). I already have 6" wide real candles from Pier1 many years ago in various heights that I display. So did you get a total of 9 rustic candles then in the various heights and colors?

13. I have 13 candles but I'm trying to figure out based on the Lanterns they showed what size I actually need; it's a mess : (

@SahmIam Ok watch the presentation video again like I just did and it seems the large 25" Luminara lantern will fit the 14" or the 10" size and the candle in the lantern on the steps she showed was really the 6" ivory. She spoke incorrectly. It won't fit the 10" or the 14". Hope this helps you decide.

 That's what I thought as well. I watched that video many times plus brought up the Windsor Lantern video on a lap top and froze them in place next to each other in order figure it out. Sadly, I only have 1  of the 6 inch ivory based on what she said. I also purchased the wrong size Lantern as it's not the "grand daddy of them all". No, it's the next size DOWN so thanks....I not only purchased the wrong size item, I can't get the candles to fit the RIGHT size now.

Sheesh.

Editing to add: @BabyYoda  Do you agree that the Windsor Lantern on the stairs was not the largest size but the middle sized one? The panes of glass don't have that long narrow look to me (which is what the biggest one features). TIA

I know you are frustrated @SahmIam I do think the Windsor lantern on the stairs was the medium 19" size looking at it. For the Heritage 2.0 version lantern you would need the 25" one. Remember these candles are 6" wide and you need to get it through the opening of the doors. HTH

Not to confuse things even further, but I was under the impression when she was talking about the 'oversized' lanterns and they showed the shot of the staircase, that she was referring to something else that the camera did not get to, further up the stairs, that might not have been a Luminara brand lantern.

Could be wrong about that, but my impression was that the camera zoomed in on the wrong thing, not at all what she was speaking of at that moment.

@Mominohio  I went back and just watched the video..OMG YES! WAY up on the landing above the staircase a candle is burning!! I watched a few more times and can't figure out what it is.

I don't do Facebook. Mominohio, could you PLEASE mention this to her and see if she can tell you/us which Lantern it was and if THAT was the one she was talking about? I would be so grateful to you.

@SahmIam

I will post a question to her tonite!

@SahmIam

There is still room to wrap some trim around the candle in the 25" Lantern.  Hope this will help.  I'd love a inch or so in height but any more and the flame wouldn't show up.

Now this, to me, looks a bit overstuffed.

I'm thinking I won't be using these inside of lanterns much.

I do have a pretty big non Luminara lantern that might accommodate the 10" but we'll see when they get here.

Does anyone else have a bit of a nagging feeling about the flame on these.

The candles are so fat and tall, and that one itsy bitsy flame in the center top might look kind of out of place and too small?

IT was something I kind of noticed right off the bat, but in a real candle of that size, a wick and flame would be the same size as in any other size real candle. I'm just thinking that in a real candle that size, it would be a double or triple wick, and look more appropriate.

Also, the brown and the red won't let the light shine through the body of the candle, or so I think based on other dark Luminaras I have. The ivory might, though. I'm wondering if those big fat dark candles with no light coming through the body of the wax, and then that one little flame on top, is going to look odd.

@Mominohio  I don't think the Luminaras light in the body, I can't recall mine doing that, but I don't have any Luminara ivory yet.  I have Mirage and Luminara and only the flame lights, but I will find out when the ivory arrives.  Just the flame is more natural as in a real candle only the flame is lit.

I have some much older Luminara in Ivory, and there is a bit of glow below the wax in the upper part of mine. But any dark Luminara I have, no light comes through.

It seems natural to have some light coming from the top third of one of these, as when a candle begins to 'tunnel', and you can see a glow from inside. The richest looking ones to me, are the ones that have a faint glow coming through the wax in the top quarter or third of the candle. There just isn't any way for them to do that with the dark colors though.

@Mominohio it looks overstuffed to me as well.

I watched the video this morning and the camera man went to the wrong lantern. She was talking about the 25" one they had way up high.

I have those white lanterns, they were my first Luminara purchase and I hate those lanterns. I should have sent them back. I plucked the candles out of them and they are stored in the attic.

After watching the video I agree with others there should have been three in them. The size of them is nice but the lack of flame is a disapointment. Thankfully these are a pass for me.

Pardon my sparse posts. Am at work and on my iPhone which is a pain to read and post from.

Thanks for that pic lucymo. That candle is huge compared to the one that comes in the lantern. While I wouldn't mind if the one in the lantern was bigger, I almost think that 6" diameter is too big, imo of course.

I will have to rethink these. I agree with some that perhaps the flame should be bigger. Actually, I really like the idea of a 3-wick for a candle that big. I don't mind if the candle doesn't glow because I'm not so sure a real one would. Will be interested to hear what others think when they receive theirs.

@crazycockermom@Mominohio@ChrissyKR  Personally, I think the 6" diam. is too much for most lanterns.  There is a space around the candle but  looking from the door it looks crammed to me too.  I'd prefer a taller but maybe 4 1/2 " diam would be plenty wide for this 25" lantern.  I didn't order any of them and  not interested at the moment, maybe later I might be. Never say never, you know.  Smiley Happy

Re: LUMINARA 360

[ Edited ]

@lucymo @mousiegirl @ChrissyKR @Mominohio @ChiliPepper and everyone else:

I cancelled my orders. Well, I tried. One group has shipped and one is in the process of being shipped so now I'm going to have to pack them up and send them back.

There is simply too much doubt with these items and the cost is SIGNIFICANT. If I'm questioning it this much, it's not meant to be.

Something great will come along later, I'm sure.

Have to say, so many GREAT questions/opinions were mentioned in this thread. I'm going to go back and reread it all and take notes so next time, I'll be better prepared. : )

EDITED TO ADD: Heads up ladies; these candles are being shipped via USPS SUREPOST!!!  Great, just freaking great. Good luck to everyone that your candles are in one piece and not a tub of wax.
