Re: LAMPS SWITCH THINGS UP, NO MATTER THE SEASON

I find table lamps and floor lamps to be so difficult and to be potentially expensive mistakes.

I love looking at them, but I've learned that for most situations I am looking for table lamps and I have to buy a pair.   With even mediocre lamps costing $400 a piece, that's the better part of $1000 after taxes and shipping.   That makes for expensive mistakes.

When I had several rooms in my house remodeled,  I insisted on installing a lot of overhead ceiling lighting so that I didn't have to rely on movable lamps so much.

That helped, but I still wrestle with lamp decor, especially when I have some seasonal changes.   I loved the English- style furniture and decor store OKA and did well with their lamps, but they unexpectedly went out of business.  Sadly, I had plans to buy duplicates of some of their lamps that worked out well, but now I'm just left with single lamps rather than pairs.

I love that first photograph!  There is something so dramatic about a black shade, and this one is perfect on the woven base. (Gotta say, it's kind of moody. Woman LOL)

I like every kind of light source-- floor lamps, including torcheres, sconces, chandeliers, pendants, even hidden up-lights that you hide behind furniture and planters!   And candlesticks, natch.

Table lamps might be my favorite, not sure.  What are your favorite kinds, shapes, or materials?

I too like all kinds of light sources, as well as shapes and materials, don't know that I have a favorite, @Oznell .  I will mention that I like the feature of touch lamps, think they are neat and convenient.

Love the little kitten on the pillow in photo number 11.

@Patriot3 ,  agreed, they bring so much to a room!

@SactoSue ,  OKA is great, it's such a shame the US store is gone now and you can't duplicate your lamps. Agree with you that pairs are the best way to go-- love the symmetry they give.

@faeriemoon ,  so true, the dramatic contrast between shade and base intrigued me too.

@QVCisFun ,  I wondered if any observant poster would mention that kitten!  Of course it was you...
