My significant other works where they operate 24/7/365. If a day he's working falls on a Holiday they get paid time & a half or double, I forget. But they never close. A lot of places are like this. Think of hospitals, EMT, Fire, Police, warehouses, research facilities, nursing homes, etc.

I'm home full time, but husband still working. He takes his last vacation the week before Thanksgiving, then usually doesn't take any time off until Memorial Day weekend. I know it's a long haul for him. They don't get a lot of holidays off.
